AGREED, I am with you on this one, would love some in these 2 steels.DeathBySnooSnoo wrote:I will be all over this...as long as they don't mess around with it. Leave the grind, leave the ergos...maybe a brown g10, or a nice dark olive green (like the stag arms manix) but no blue or orange or anything like that. Maybe M4 or M390 for the steel.
like your Idea on G10 also.
Cheers,
Guy
ack, another Spydie need
man, that Starmate looks like the heat. i didin't know what a Starmate is or looked like until. now i want one.
i should visit this forum once a year to cool down the wallet after all these forum inspired spydie purchases.

i would like it slightly better if it had dual liners instead of just a liner on the locking side. Make it in Golden with a similar grind on the locking surfaces as a Military and you would have a winner.I'm down for some other color than Black for the G10 also.

Starmate
I agree with the brown, olive green or dark blue g-10. This sounds like one knife that I will get for sure.

Sal, since the Original Starmate was made with 440v, I don't think fans of it would want a step backwards in edge retention. Maybe we need a steel vote, but I would think 20cp or b75p or if you really wanted to use Japan ZDP.
I kind of like keeping models from the same country of origin. You know, keep it a Golden or Japan model.
Other than that, I don't know what else we can choose. FRN vs G-10? Type of liner, style of lock?

Nested or full liners? If full, thinner scales or thicker knife?sal wrote:We're looking into it now. Same pattern, same grinds. Thinking about dual skeletonized liners, Peel ply G-10. Would like to hear your suggestions. Would probably make it in Seki and use VG-10.

Personally, I'd rather see the construction left original, Peel Ply CF and S30V in either Golden or Taichung Taiwan, but that's just me.
I don't believe in safe queens, only in pre-need replacements.

I like the dual liners. But please not vg-10. I think that something a step forward would be good. 20cp would be ok, m4 would be ok, m390 would work too.
Donut, I think that the idea was to keep it the same design as the original so a liner lock. Though a nice beefed up one like the GB would be great.
edited to add: maybe that B75P would be good for this knife?

On the hunt for...
"Seki and use VG-10"
Problem I see is Seki = $$$ and VG-10 = yawn......
Maybe ZDP would be a better bet?
A Sprint run of 1200 should fly.
Tried a Sprint on this knife through KW a year or so ago and was told it was not possible. Tooling / colab etc.
Glad things have changed! :D
Am in for a couple.
