Return of the Starmate!!!
Return of the Starmate!!!
Sal has confirmed that he is looking into the possibility of bringing back the Starmate. I know the original Starmate is my Spyderco grail and I would love to see this knife back into production. Now I know its not a done deal but I cant help being excited about this. Just another example of Sal listening to his customers even if it doesnt necessarily translate into profit for his company.

I had one years ago and it was nice. The handle was nice and the blade made it a real looker. Overall, I settled on the Military instead of it, largely due to the wider blade and better slicing of the flat grind.
I'd be interested in one again, so long as its not S30V. With the original being 440V, it ought to get a nice, upscale steel. G-10 is fine for the handles and as much as I like FFG's on a general basis, I'd say stick with the hollow grind like the originals. If we really want to distinguish it, give it either tan or gray G-10. That would be amazing.

42 Spyderco fixed blades and counting...
