Including a SS Cricket/SE to my best buddy who is a no knife type of man.
Last time I asked he still carries it every now and then.

The most precious Spydies that were given to me were:

Caly III/SE from Paul and the fully serrated CPM D2 Military AND Paramilitary from Sal.
Thanx very much again
You gifted me a Blue D3 SE when I was in time of need and I will never forget it. That knife will be given to my daughter later in life.

back in 2003 I had 25 blue native III's engraved for eagle scouts. I have about 5 left. 2 more scouts I know have their eagle. I will give it to them at their ceremony. Most others I've gifted away are caly jr ltwt black and grey. I have also given new homes to atlantic salt, dodo and a couple of orange ukpk's.
I have 3 more lined up to give away for a special occasion :)

My problem is just finding people who A) are into knives enough to carry one and B) are into knives enough to appreciate a good knife and take care of it. As much as i like to give gifts, i can't bring myself to give a good knife to someone who i know is going to abuse it and not take care of it.

+1 That's why it seems so many of us on the forums like gifting to our fellow forumites! :D

I gave a CPM D2 Para to a forumite who had his collection stolen.

I've also given a Caly 3 to my cousin for his college graduation and a Santa Fe Stoneworks Delica to my dad as a birthday present.

Gifted a D4 with beautiful bocote scales (pimped by cuscadi) to my cousin. His stepson sharpened it so expertly, I nearly lost my cool when I saw the ruined knife again. Lesson learned: don't give unique knives to NKPs and expect them to treasure them as you would yourself. Since then I gifted Ambitious, Persistence, Grasshopper, Bug (for fun) models to my cousin and his son. Gifted a white Vic classic to his wife and she truly loves it, OT :D . The next gifts will blue FRN D4 for the guys and possibly a Ladybug for his wife.

I've gifted a Persistence to my stepbrother and a Dragonfly G-10 to my girlfriend (who is very supportive of my knife infatuation). Also, I own a Dragonfly2 in FRN, so we have hers-and-his pocket knives. :D

Edit: Forgot that I gave a Native to my roommate.

A while ago, after getting bit by the hawkbill bug, I found a G-10 Harpy. Didn't care for it once I had it in hand, and knowing a particular Dr.'s love affair with the Harpy, I sent it off to him to enjoy.

That is wicked cool! My 'signature' Eagle gift is a Silber bronze Eagle buckle, but yours can be carried daily. Did Spyderco do the engraving for you?

Thanks!

I gave a D2 Military to a young man on my wife's side of the family who went to fight in Iraq. I hear he is very proud of that knife. I know it is going to good use.

Ira,
Sorry I didn't see this sooner. Yes, Spyderco (SFO) Did the sale and engraving. I even got sequential numbering for the 25. Nice that you recognize Eagle scouts. Especially with Max Silber buckle. Have you ever visited the Lawrence L. Lee Museum at Camp Carpenter? I live 10 minutes away from it.

About two years ago I gifted a non Spyderco knife to Big Chief, an online acquaintance. I had posted a picture of some knives and he really admired one of them. It was a Le Camarguais 12C27, handmade in France with olive wood handles. I got his address from a common friend and sent him the knife. He was really surprised when the knife arrived. He called me up to thank me and told me it was great timing, the knife took his mind off his battle with lung cancer. A few months later he lost his battle with cancer.

Caly 3 G10 PE to my brother in law (sharpest knife he owns in his own words)
Etched Dragonfly to father in law
G10 Dragonfly to father (still waiting to deliver it)
SS Delica 4 CE to a old work buddy.

My nephew (4 now) gets to choose a knife from my collection when he is old enough to appreciate it. Everythign but gifts given to me are included.

Nothing out of this world but all good solid knives that have been given good homes. Since I have been lucky to get some nice knives as gifts I thought I would pay it forward.

I worried about my son for the entire time he was in Afghanistan. Now he tells me he is going back (US Army). I sent him a digicam DLC Military. I'm not sure if I did it for me or for him, I feel better that he has it.

Certainly for me, it would have to be the World Trade Center Rescues that I gave to my children.....to help them remember. I held on to them until they were old enough to appreciate them.
