Wow!

Perhaps it would be useful if the start date of the thread was shown alongside on the new post listing?

Then people could take it or leave it

Is it my personal code of forum ethics? Nope, just an observation on the reactions of long-time members on the forums I frequent when new members decide they need to add their two cents to a thread that is long forgotten. I know that common sense is dead, but we can at least try to remember what it looked like.
I agree with yab on all points.

I think the issue is not as much bumping an old thread as it is the apparent attitude that Gideon did it with.

I will have to push bb coders to come up with a zombie thread detection algorithm and an icon to denote such. so many possibilities to make entertainment out of such an occurrence.

Make the icon look like a Zombie head with a Rock Salt stuck in it.

It was kind of fun to read folks talking about the Starmate as if it were present day :) . I do like deep carry clips also.

A first post with a mild rant on the tail of this thread does seem a bit inapppropriate, rude, and immature. Introductions then questions would be much more polite. The actual topic of the original thread is valid and interesting. :)

I started a new thread along the same lines as the original one.

It might be sac-religous but I very much prefer thumbstuds over the spydie hole.

I know it's their trademark so there's no possibility of it going away but I think you could slim down a lot of their knives (a la Para 2) by utilizing thumb studs or even a smaller spydie hole.

my $.02

No, not sacrilegious at all, just kinda dumb suggestion.

It's kinda like asking benchmade not to use the axis lock.

Gideon, Happy Memorial weekend!

I am sure by now many have mentioned something about the concept of batoning with a lightweight folder. Regardless, I would like to suggest that if you must process wood with an Endura, do so by carving a wedge with the Endura, put the Endura safely back in your pocket, then baton with your wedge. Your knife will work better at the end of the day.
Thanks,

I have seen some guys run a bolt through the hole and use it like a stud.

We are not all the same...and not everyone will put Spyderco at the top of their list.

This approach will not slim down the knife at all though...but slimming down the knife necessitates one of two things to happen that perhaps you have not considered?
1. Increase the grind angle, or
2. Decrease the spine thickness.

Personally I would really HATE to do either to the ParaMilitary. Opinions vary...
Thanks,

Very diplomatic Ken. :D

I like this concept though, bolt action thumb hole. ;)

More models with the Millie/Para 1 clip for left hand carry. Don't like deep carry unless it's a gents model.

If a clip is going to be black then make it so the black doesn't come off so easily.

Some more models with Micarta scales.

Can you come up with some more models? Oh wait. You're already doing that :D

I really can't think of anything at the moment. For the most part I'm pretty happy with what's coming out.

EDIT: Ok, necrothread big time. Didn't realize that until I started reading the threads like "upgrade the SS models blade steel from aus6. Use more G-10. More models with ffg blades."

I did think of one more thing. Get rid of that silly hole in the blade  :D

Not to rekindle an old thread, but I remember when Chris Columbus said that he was looking for a new saltwater knife and didn't understand what Pacific Salt and Atlantic Salt referred to. Kinda funny now that I think about it.
