Dragonfly Hawkbill?!?

#1

Post by Rutgrr »

Just wondering if there was any chance Spyderco could come out with a Dragonfly Hawkbill? Would anyone be interested?

I photoshopped the Superhawk and Dragonfly together to see what it would look like. Check it out. It could be called "Superfly" :)

I'm not a huge fan of hawkbill knives but I think I would buy it just to say I have a Spyderco Superfly in my pocket. Would this be including a Spyderco disco ball?

I would buy it only if it came in foliage green, we need more spydies in that color imo :D

Wow, when I first read the thread title, I thought "Nice idea, but it probably won't work so well with the short wide blade of the Dragonfly", but that picture looks really good. Very interesting.

Haha, nice witty comments, you guys.

This would immediately become the best little big knife ever in my personal opinion.

hawkbill cuts like a larger knife anyway.
Would want both serrated and plain, to carry singly or in a set.

choil+hawkbill+D'fly size and toughness = ultimate general purpose cuttin' stuff knife.

Bravo, and nice image!

Just wondering if it would fit when you fold it in, a normal dragonfly already has a lot of the blade exposed when folded in.

The physical shape of the blade might make it tricky to fit into the standard handle. Just because it looks good in the open handle (which it does), doesn't mean it will work as a folder. Modification of the tang/kick area is usually necessary to make a hawk fit in a handle that was originally designed for a traditional blade. It might be doable. I'd like to see it in SE.
So many knives, so few pockets... :)

Yeah, how the blade fits when closed would be a problem especially with the deep curve on the Dragonfly handle. Here is what it might look like closed:

Cool idea! Your renderings are quite good -- selling me on a HB D'Fly anyway.
