I got a surgery scar glued a little over a year ago and I have what I would call an ugly scar.

It's either his arm or he wears his watch on his leg. :)

Best of luck with the healing, hope it is a quick one.

For a price I can make you some leather bracers covered in chainmaille or overlapping metal scales. :) Might help prevent future trips to the hospital.

It's always like that.
Stress, other things on your mind, want to do it fast, not fully focused.
I work with a stanley knife all day and usualy nothing goes wrong.
Once in a while I draw a little blood, nothing to worry about.
Until one morning, nice deep cut in the meaty part of my hand.
Hardly felt it, three stitches, healed up nicely.
My own falt, not the knife's.

Let me ask you... In the picture it seems as though you used a paper towel and a hand wipe. Do you have any first aid supplies? Its always good to have capable FAK in the house for emergencies like this.
Thanks for the good advice :) ...

I do have more than one emergency kit and I actually used the black one in this case... (and a bit of clean toilet paper ;) to soak of the blood)

The wet wipe you saw is this:

And you are definitely right about the fact that everybody should have a FAK at home!

Wow, Neomik, that is no joke! Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

Just goes to show what a sharp knife can do with little effort.

OUCH!
From only little experience I know that if your blade actually has blood on it... It's bad.
Usually it just cuts and starts to bleed after the knife is already away.
If you're serious about SD training either make a Tasman trainer from wood (fixed variety, I know you have the skills) or buy a Delica trainer, the most similar folding trainer you can find. :)

Yes, it gives you that one minute to go get the bandaids.
This blade seems to even have tissue on it.

This thread does make me want a Tasman.
Don't know why but it does.

Thanks Creepo!

Yeah there was a lot of blood and I did cut into the flesh not just the surface but I did not hit deep enough to create permanent damage!

I really like the hawkbill/Claw-style blade for my personal SD. Because it allows you (in a self-defense scenario) to keep the opponent in a distance and to deflect the attack of more than one person (easier I believe)! Like a cat does use it's claws!

I will create a metal/wood blank in the same shape and weight as the Tasman Salt and use it in future training sessions!

There was some tissue on the blade ;) !

Glad to hear that the thread inspired you to get the Tasman! It is an awesome little knife! Small enough when closed to conceal and easy to deploy! Trough it's shape a great self defense (in this case self destruct) tool :) !

Seriously whatever activity you do you should always keep a FAK close by!

Menace I highly doubt that this would work :) !

You know a "Chick" will dig a scar you earned on a battlefield or earned it with glory! I don't think that she'll dig the scar you got for being stupid and cut yourself :D !

Besides It will still leave a scar :o ... and that is bad enough!

OUCH! i hope it heals quickly. For the trainer, i think the easiest way would be to buy another tasman, used preferably, and just dremel the edge off and round the tip a bit. i doubt it would take any weight off that you could discern and it would be the most like the live blade.

I got myself pretty good with an emerson karambit once. I spun it and the heel of my palm didn't push it out so it went into my wrist. Missed a vein by a mm if that. I used a papertowel pressure and a regular bandaid to fix it. Sithus that scale metal bracer looks very nice. What gauge is the steel and how much does it weigh?

BTW: Do what I say, not what I do

I've had to tape my thumbs and fingers up NUMEROUS times after cutting or stabbing myself. Can't even say speed = more blood, when I've cut myself going slowly more times than going quickly. I love sitting on the couch watching tv, spinning and tossing my enduras around (one in each hand, or transitioning hand to hand on the fly).

Usually the reason I end up hitting myself is because I've recently oiled the pivot and blade, ending up with some on my fingers.

Spinning, oiled, SE blades eat fingers ;)
