Broke It Clean in Two...

#1

Post by Just Me »

Well, I reached for a fishing rod, which knocked into a paint can, which fell on the bench and knocked the Sharpmaker onto the concrete floor with a crash. Uh Oh. There lay one of the fine grade ceramics broken in two. First I cussed. Then I inspected the pieces and decided to try to fix them. I used a high grade of CA adhesive; Balsa USA Gold Bond. I applied a good amount of the glue to each half and then held them tight and true for a minute. Then I left it sit for a day.

Lo and behold it seems to be working! I have sharped several blades on it so far. What little cement oozed from the repair seems to have come off during the sharpening process. Do try this at home.GRIN

Some products come with a guarantee, they guarantee that if you break it into, you get to keep both pieces! RKBA!

Well at least the glue is holding. <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
If anything you might end up with 2 travel pieces.

I do believe that's an "Arkansas Guarantee", Alan. At least it is in this neck of the woods. <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Never underestimate the impossible.

FYI-Still holding after several sharpenings. So if you break a stone-it can be fixed!
