My most cherished Spydie

Post by hawkbill »

No, it's not the most rare knife in my collection, nor is it the most expensive.

This particular Cricket was used by one of my departed comrades in arms to open evidence bags/boxes in our property room.

After his untimely demise in 2000 (KIA), I gave the knife to another Officer, and just recently got it back in a trade. It will be staying with me now, and I won't part with it again.

Not meant to depress anyone during this season of joy, but I feel this knife has an interesting history.

The pic must have either a .jpg or .gif extension and be no larger than 400 pixels in either dimension.

back bevelld to 25 degrees with a lansky type and then sharpen to 40 degrees by spyderceramicsthen stropped with a puma straight razor strop,it is scary sharp!even with hard abuse(used like a folding machete) it takes razor edge in 5 with the 40° slot and white corners...

i want a ce chinook so i can sharpen my pe to 15°and keep the other to very abuse...the chinook is the best spydie i've never owned,it's solid, simple,ergonomics,beautiful... it worth it's price.it look at the same time classy but high tech, the only thing i need is a kydex teklok sheat to carry it open on the left side, and then another chinook to wear in my right pocket......

Hawkbill-

Nice story. Not depressing at all. It just goes to show that you can always buy something beter or more expensive but they will never have the meaning like the one you got!
I guess because it was a part of him and that means alot. Just enjoy it and think of him everytime you use it!

ken

One thing though- When it's time for me to "GO" I want to take my spyder"CO".
You justnever know!

Thanks, one and all for the kind words. Not a day goes by without my thinking of him. As to the pic, I have resized it under the 400 pixels/assured it's a Jpeg file, and yet it won't load...maybe another time.

Sorry, clearly SOMETHING is going on with my access to the forum...never had this happen before.

Sorry to hear about your buddy dude. At least you could cherish his memories through that little <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>.. My most cherished Spydie was an Endura given to me by Poppa Spyder himself. It bears his initials.. <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
