The Gunting claims another victim
Never Assume....
I guess if your sister "plays" with knives..it behooves you to teach her whats acceptable and safe with the new tools.
I have to do that with my family each time I design something new..
Tell her I'm sorry that shes jpoined the Gunting bitten clan...
Mary is part of the clan..she's the first to ever do it...She did it with my first proto type..and it was double edge so it bit both ways on her leg...
Merry Christmas..
be safe
Bram

Brandon,
Sorry to hear about your sister's injury and hope she heals quickly.
The Gunting is not a knife I leave lying about in spite of the fact that Java the Younger and Mrs Java have been shown and briefed on its potential for injuring "knife savvy" individuals. The G kin-op was not designed to be used on your leg or anything larger than your wrist for this very reason. In a clutch, if you get crowded by the BG you now know what some of the live G's capabilities are. Buy the Trainer! Watch the tapes! The drone is extremely effective as a trainer, you won't cut yourself (normally), and is almost as effective as personal protection without bringing deadly force into the equation. And as Bram says, "Never Assume."
Best to you and yours,

Yeow! <img src="sad.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> Hope it heals OK, stiches suck. Drag out an OLD Handbook for the teaching, it's far better than the new ones. Much clearer as to what sharpened steel will do, and far easier to teach.
Knives have 2 simple rules.
1.) Keep sharp bits away from skin.
2.) Never forget Rule #1.
Never underestimate the impossible.

Brandon:
please tell your sister I hope she heals well..and fast!!!!!
And if it makes her feel better tell her some day we can compare and show off our Gunting scars..of which I have a few..
comes with designing and experimenting with it..
Hey..it will open on things bigger than a wrist..just make it the OTHER guys parts..and doing it on someone else.you are pulling AWAY from their body usually so the tip and rebound don't bite..
key word usually..
To avoid all problems..get a DRONE...
use a DRone..
practice with a DRone...
Be safe..
Bram
Example of Bram-dumb...
One day I was walking in a store. the manager says "Hey, neat new Spyderco" and reaches for it... I quickly pull it out... KinOp it and twirl right into reverse Grip..
at the same time moving it across my body to my left AWAY from the managers reaching hand...
as I stick it into and through my left hand..
Ok yes I fely really stupid standing there with this Gunting stuck right through my hand..
Yes I bled all over his store..
yes my daughter compounded it with "gee Dad,,some great knife instructor you are.."
