This is probably zero help, but here goes.
I feel that the way a knife is used is way more important than what it looks like sitting on a desk.
Pull out a black on black Military and deploy it slowly and under total control, make the cut and return it to discretion in silence, and few people seem to get very excited (at least in my experience).
Pull out a yellow H1 Ladybug and let-er-rip with switch-blade speed and exaggerated arm movements as you hammer it open and start slashing and hacking at something like a Samuria Warrior, and bystanders will take note.
Perhaps it is where I live, but generally a knife used responsibly is not generally a big cause for concern.
Generally I feel that if you really want to convey a tone of "non-threatening" brighter colors are best. Orange G-10 offerings, and the Blue, Green, or Purple Enduras/Delicas seem to generate friendly questions from non-knife people in my experience.
Attitude is a huge percentage of perception though...
Least threatening designs?

I agree. Aside from the most knife-fearing, non-knife people tend not to fear knives that look like box cutters, in spite of 9/11. They also tend to ignore bolstered knives, even fairly large ones. My C83 Persian only raised one or two eyebrows at work back when I was carrying it. But my vote for the least threatening would go to the Kiwi. :DDr. Snubnose wrote:Gonna have to disagree with the OP...Believe or not...it has been my experience that the Yojimbo is a very sheeple friendly knife....I'm not kidding...people do not freak out about it, must be the unusual design and box cutter appearance of the blade that makes it OK with sheeple minded people...Doc :D

I agree with this in principle since I carry one as a money clip, but believe it or not, I had a friend ask me "why are you carrying that? " when I took it out with my cash to pay for lunch. I just told him for opening packages and mail and stuff. Didnt bother to pull out my Caly 3 CF...yes, I live in sheeple country.geronm042 wrote:The Spin maybe ?
I still think its NKP friendly. I dont care what anyone thinks. Well, maybe TSA - I dont take it when I travel.

There's definitely nothing rational about some folks "fear of knives". There were a couple where I worked who'd act as if they were going to soil their linen if they walked by my cubicle while I was cutting food with a 3.5" folder. Yet, those same folks thought nothing of performing the same task using the large, albeit dull, chef's knife, or the smaller and equally dull utility knife that sat on the "treats" table around the corner from my cubicle 24 X 7 or of walking with it, point forward, the 30' or so from there to the break room to wash it, then back. They could never understand the inconsistency of that, even when I pointed it out.
