First impressions of the Spyderco Tenacious.

Whelp, my Spyderco Tenacious just came. I am very surprise how great the quality is. The blade is super sharp right out of the box. I was cutting things so small, wow. I already notice my thumb is sore already from the hole on the blade though.

Glad to hear you like it. Almost everybody seems to be impressed by quality of the knife at that price point.

My thumb got used to the thumb hole like my fingers got used to a guitars strings, it was like it adapted with a new layer off skin lol

The same thing happened to me. After about a week of frequent openings my thumb got used to opening with the hole. It looked like I had worn through the top layer of my skin.

Whelp, I just customized my Spyderco Tenacious with the pocket clip tip up.

I gave the knife a few good wacks on the backspin of the knife to test the linerlock and it passed.

Good to go.

Yes, I always do. This is my second lineerlock knife, and I want to know how much pressure I can give the knife if I ever had to use the spine of the knife for what ever reason.

This is an important test for me also as I always put a 20% inclusive bevelled edge on the back of my knives so that I can cut with both sides

Congrats! I remember when I first got my Tenacious, I wanted to buy another one right away it was so neat :D . But wait until you experience some of the more premium ones from Japan, Taiwan and the US. No offense to the Chinese spydies..they are amazing values and still great quality, but the main line of Spyderco's has spoiled me.

We're just blessed to have such an incredible company willing to sell knives at such fair prices. I swear, people would pay $300 for a Caly 3 CF or Sage 2 easy! What a great hobby and company that a broke guy like me can get some of the best quality stuff out there!

:spyder: Cngrats on your TENACIOUS . . . . When i had the first one in my hands, i was very pleased i almost forgot my all time favourite ENDURA . . . . Now i have only 12 pieces . . . . Five of them are workers, the other seven are waiting for their turn :D . . . . Use it well . . . . :) :spyder:

I liked my Tenacious so much that it actually took me a couple of weeks to get into grabbing up my Manix 2 in its place once I got it. A lot of knife for not a lot of money. Now it typically sees kitchen duty or whatever duty is needed where I happen to see it out first. A fine all-purpose folder, IMO and incredibly well-built at that price point. I will probably get at least a Resilience soon and maybe one of the smaller ones as well (have bought 2 Persistences for people close to me) and likely a backup Tenacious, maybe an SE this time..

I have upwards of 50+ :spyder: and the "Ten" is the one I EDC the most -- it is a Best Buy in the Spyder line up and for the $35 I paid for it -- I won't cry {to much} if it gets lost , ditched , or a "friendly cop" desides he likes it cause its free :D

Tenacious - maybe the best value of any spydie. The Resilience is a great value as well.

Your thumb will get used to the opening hole. Sharp edges add a ton of traction for opening and closings. Enjoy! :)

I love my Tenasious too. It's great knife. I just sand a little bit G10 around clip and now it really easy to get the knife out from the pocket. I highly reccomend this "mod".

Considering the knives in your collection, that is a big compliment to the Tenacious.

I've been wanting to try one from this line up for a while. I'll probably pick up a persistance or ambitious sometime this year.

After getting my first "bunch" of higher end :spyder: -- I had MAJOR doubts about the Value Line and where they were made , quality , etc.

I could NOT have been more wrong !!! Mine stayed RAZOR sharp for a few weeks and I cut all kinds of stuff --- then about 4 or 5 minutes on the Lansky and it was again Scary Sharp.

I like the BP washers in it -- like some custom balisongs I have , they just make the knife glide open. The G-10 was VERY grippy {i like that } but the points have smoothed/worn down a nub and thats fine also. It has a nice tip that is NOT to pointy or fragile and won't snap off easy on a hard thrust. The grip shape works well for me in both the "saber" and the "dagger" with REFO. And the blade had good depth to it so you know it would make a HUGE wound channel if ever used in a SD type situation. I have smaller " girly man " size hands and there is enough of the butt of the handle for use as a punyo or impact tool.

I could list another dozen things I like about the Tenacious but for a cheapskate like me ---- THE PRICE IS GREAT for what you get :D

Ps -- I also bought a 2nd "Ten" as a safe queen/back up and a Persistance --- now to get the Big'on and the Baby ---- when the Spyder catalog says "Value Folders " they sure got that right !!!!!
