Police 3 Southard Regrind Wharncliffe

Hey all, finally got in contact of Brad. Looks like he finished up my blade for the most part, but I ended up asking him to get rid of the serrations because I just can't stand sharpening those

Hopefully it doesn't end up TOO skinny lol

This is the pic he sent me before he took off the serrations

Blade too short, don't like the handle texturing, not a fan of s30v, not a huge fan of linerlocks, and besides, I already had this serrated police that gets no use- I prefer the more geometrical wharncliffe with a very acute point rather than the round bulbous wharncliffe.

Cool man. Brad does good work. If anyone could pull off your dream it would be him.

Yeahh, maybe I shouldn't have asked him to kill the spyderedge. Even my girl suggested I don't shave off extra metal since its already an anorexic blade..I just don't see much of a point to a wharncliffe regrind with serrations since the whole idea is an ultra fine point and a completely flat blade.

Just got it in the mail. Really happy with how it turned out except I'm confused why he didn't make a perfectly pointy tip- almost like he was worried it would be too fragile if it was straight so he arched it up for half a millimeter or so

Love how much handle I have, and the blade isn't too short

Cool!

Looks like it will perform well. Stab a few boxes and see what you think :)

I know what you're saying about the stabbing- it's not like I'll be stabbing on a daily basis with what's really mostly meant to be an sd knife...my blackhawk be-wharned has a perfectly pointy tip and I've never had it chip or break

Well my Meyerco Wharning's tip hasn't broken or chipped too. Must help that I haven't used it at all. ;)

Oh my only point is it should perform admirably.

The Janich-style modified wharny is quite extreme and far from typical. Most of Brad's wharnies adopt a traditional approach.

I specifically asked him to model it after my be-wharned knife since I've come to love it so much :D

And thanks Mr. Janich! I'm sure there's plenty of us here, but I'm a huge fan of your designs and teachings. I'm gonna try to get Brad to grind my Endura in a similar manner as your custom Endura- except maybe I'll use the model with the wave feature
