Man i really like the Jr...that thing is just smooth and unique looking. I can't wait to hold it.

The Tuff...man i had a lot of high hopes for a nasty hard use knife...i'm not sure about the looks though..have to see it in person and handle it. I like 50/50s but that one looks too much like some other knives that feel like your finger is going to slip forward into the blade. I love the angle of the blade though...it screams chop chop chop!

The spiked back plate on the Tuff prototype looks like a real pants shredder! As for the Lionspy (SpyLeone), I believe it's the same dimensions as Lion Steel's SR-1 model.

Hey, I'm wondering, did they show or mention either of the Carpenter sprints of the Military or Para 2? I'm wondering if maybe they had a production proto, or maybe it's old news/has already been shown. Can't wait to see what shades the G-10 are, especially the Brown Military one (I've been waiting for a Coyote/earth brown spydie for a while!). I did get a peek in the catalog I guess, but only a tiny one.

Sal has already said the texturing on the prototype Tuff's lock side will not be used on the production version for just that reason. I'd kind of hoped it would be used on other knives, as I find it a lot more attractive than some of the other textures being shown.

I think it looks awesome and it suits the knife...couldn't they just tone it down some and still keep the same pattern? It can't be much more rough than the bidirectional FRN.

I am going to have to set aside a couple grand just to keep up with these!

the Tuff and the LionSpy are going to be '3 minimum' knives for me

(and the G10 and Ti Native)

whew... that's a lot of knives to hide from my wife....

Haven't bought a new Spyderco for quite some time now. Looks like I may make up for lost time. Another sale for a Lum tanto and one of the new Natives I'm sure.

Spyderco 2011 Prototype – Vallotton Folder

#234

Post by Mr Blonde »

The Valloton Folder reminds me of the old-style folders by Al Mar. This one looks like something of a gent’s tactical folder. Al Mar would have made it with a subhilt handle. I didn’t quite catch the materials, so I’m not sure if the handle is micarta or polished G10. It’s a tall blade, at least 4 inches. The knobs behind the opening hole are part of the locking mechanism, a new interpretation of the linerlock. Do notice the faceted tip, it’s kind of like a clip point tanto tip.

I wasn't crazy about this knife, when I saw pictures from Shot, but now it started to grow on me.
BTW, it is not a first time when Wouter sold my Spydercos :)

With all these new fabulous knives, the one I'll definitely rush to buy is the H! Dragonfly; some tough choices to make on the others.
