I liked the small Gayle Bradley a lot AND the Southfork (do I remember correctly?) fixed blade.
yeah, the Bradley *Air* was awesome, looked very much like a Klotzli and screamed *gentleman knife*

also the Bradley 2 was a very nice surprise, hope it will see production as it was all I want in a EDC: compact & light yet able to deliver cutting power when you need it

the Southfork is a design by Phil Wilson and will be made in S90V - gotta tell you the prototype was beyond excellent

Having slept over a night after the meet yesterday I had some time to overthink the knives I handled yesterday. Sal asked us to tell what we think about it and I will start with my favorites (first three), free hand writing IMHO:

1. Large Gayle Bradley folder. Smooth action, great ergo's; definately a work-
knife. No words: I will buy this blind. Thanks again Gayle!

2. Techno. Despite its small size easy opening with large hands, thick blade.
Simple and elegant user. Bead-blasted (I guess) 154cm has great
appeal in combi with the dull gray ti-handle. Fine ergo as far as I felt (with
my eyes closed  As soon as it is available I will grab one!

3. Southfork fixedblade. Simple and elegant again. Natural feeling in hand.
Curious about the S90V. Please don't add any plastic sheath to this
classic looking FB. Wish-list

4. Lum Tanto-folder. Known, just want it. Had the ti-ATS55 once. Great
appeal with the light sand G10. VG10 is always very OK. Wanted

5. Lil' temp. Never handled the first. Didn't like the ergo's. I had great
expectations when Sal started his presentation. Pass this one. Blade too
broad.

6. Lionspy. Good ergo's, but blade too broad. No ma'ai (I did not see the
proportion in this knife). Pass.

7. Large Manix. Great grips, but don't like the curve in blade (handle-spine)
Large and agressive. Pass.

8. Des Horn. Great knife with charismatic appeal. Love it. Bad ergo's. I am
always afraid to break or blunt those thin ground wharncliffe points. Not
sure yet.

9. Large Persian. Too agressive. Risks to cut of your legs when opening.
Impressive, but (indeed) the I get the taste of Cold Steel in my mouth.
Definately a BIG pass.

10. Tuff. Too clumsy. Misses balance in blade-handle. Did not like the ergo's
Much grip on the ti-side. Not sure if grinds your skin after long use.

11. Manbug. Nice and lovely, always come in handy. But there is already the
Ladybug. What is the use for bringing out another equal looking knife?
Maybe I WILL get one ;)

12. Straight spine Stretch. I liked the original design, not this one. The
Stretch remains one of my favorites but if this was the first I would have
passed it. Pass, I will stick to my blue ZDP.

Remark: That jeans-blue FRN is great stuff. It blends perfectly with any
blue jeans. Bring out some more Spydie's in that blue!

13. Mini warrior. Nasty blade. Should be a restricted item. Did like the ergo's
but did not like the finish. Prototype-state? (At the moment I am reading
Janich's little book about the warrior, interesting though....) Pass.

14. Bradley's Air. Great appeal. I had imagined it larger. Miss at least a
lanyard hole (when there will be no clip on it). Did not like the ergo's. Too
small for me. Probably a pass.

15. Chapparel. Nice thin blade. Much resemblance with the Sage one. Good
Ergo's but I think I will pass.

16. German 'New Police' Spydie. Ergo's fine. Did not like the blade-shape and
the handlefinish. I am wondering if the german 'Polizei' is going to accept
this exotic blade. It looks too custom for an average stiff german cop.
Check the Pohl-blades or Heckler and Koch, that is typically German-style
for German government-services. Pass in this form.

So far so good. This is what I remember and what I remember I liked or was interesting. What I forgot probably was not....

Cheers,
T.

But great to get all these goodies for free.
Was a real :spyder: family gathering again.

Regarding the Stretch:

Sal mentioned (and I believe he's right) that they _only_ altered the spine. The blade would retain all functional aspects it has now, and won't handle any different. It would just look .. better
The drop-point blade is what makes the knife functional! By altering the spine the blade will NOT retain all of the functional aspects it has now, it will handle very differently. To eliminate the current design means we will have one less "field knife" to choose from. -P

Again I agree. We really need to keep the original, just like the Native - there can be 2 models of Stretch - please? It's too great a knife and is perfect in design. I'm also sure that the new one will look great and be great, but I don't want to have to stock up on the current model. I'm pretty sure I'll buy a new one because I love the straight spine Spydies (Delica Milli, etc.), but it won't be a Stretch to me. Okay, enough complaining. :o

- best wishes, Jazz.

When Sal first mentioned that they were considering a "Delica like" blade for the Stretch, my impression was that it would be an option, rather than a replacement. Only reason I could see for that not happening would be if sales of the DP version are weak. Given that the Stretch was designed "by Sal for Sal", I imagine he'd be no happier than some of us if that's the case.

toomzz wrote:The idea behind the straight spine Stretch was to 'improve' (after some customer-complaint who didn't like it) the spine of the blade leading to 'in-between-model Delica-Endura' with a 50-50 choil which those last two mentioned classics don't have.
Being a huge fan of the original Hunter, Pro-venator, and Stretch, I'd really hate to see this drop point design go extinct. After the Sage 1, this is my all-time favorite knife.

The proof is in the pudding though. I'd have to handle the new one to make an informed decision...

Sal - please offer the straight spine version as a alternate, not a replacement.
