Ladybug 3 Leaf blade

#1

Post by syphen »

Was bored and spent 10 minutes drawing it quickly.. Just thought the idea of a scalpel-like FFG leaf blade on a ladybug 3 would be very cool.

Dreaming is fun!

I associate leaf blades with Spyderco so it just seems natural to me. What do you folks think?

Now that is a good idea. Very cool. Along with a new yellow ladybug H-1 rescue. Take care.

I was looking at the blade on my UKPK before sketching that out. It only makes sense to me... With Spyderco pretty much pioneering not only the hole but bringing leaf blades to general popularity.

Sorry if the pic is large... I took it on my phone and used the phone to post it. There was no resize options.

What would that get you that you couldn't get by putting an FFG on the existing blade shape?

I'd love to see a series of Ladybugs with various blade shapes. There's the standard one and the hawkbill, and the old sheepsfoot Ladybug 2... other possibilities include a wharncliffe, the leaf blade you drew, the PE blade off the Micro Dyad, a more traditional clip point...

I don't think you would gain anything performance wise compared to the existing blade shape in FFG. That said, looking through a catalogue from spyderco shows their fondness for leaf blades. It's a shape that I never carried until I started carrying spydercos. To me, it represents a lot of Spyderco's contemporary designs. It appeals to me. Nothing wrong with dreaming something and drawing it, right?

Cool looking, I'd buy one. :D

Don't know if I'm remembering correctly but, wasn't the Manbug supposed to be a leaf blade?

Funny, I associate the original Delica/Endura/Paramilli/Ladybug shapes with Spyderco, but that looks like a cool variation. Nicely done up. :)

- best wishes, Jazz.
