I was thinking the same. Like most high value products, knives that brand new fresh out of the factory should be sealed.Morris wrote:it is a little strange that the sliding boxes are never sealed. There's no way to glance at

I just hate not knowing what really happened! It's like not being allowed to read the last
chapter of a good book.

For a short while they did. I suspect there were complaints that a box could not be opened for inspection as easily or neatly.Morris wrote:it is a little strange that the sliding boxes are never sealed. There's no way to glance at them and determine if they've been opened previously.
As for the rest.
This was a closeout item which makes it unlikely that Sierra could get more from Spyderco. The fact they managed to find two more in one of their stores to satisfy one order doesn't mean they have still more Superhawks, or that there is any reasonable way for them to get more. The price at which they sold them reflected the price they paid Spyderco, so the only other knives they could realistically be expected to offer at the same discount level would be knives they purchased at a similar discount level.
Unless a vendor makes specific claims like "double your money back if not satisfied", all that is legally required of them is to "make the customer whole". Supplying the product ordered does that, as would offering a similar item at the same price. But a full refund of purchase price and shipping charges also satisfies that requirement, especially in cases where replacement is simply not feasible. Anything thrown in above and beyond that is pure gravy. Maybe somewhere in the world there's a country where a business would be legally obligated to do more, but since Sierra only ships to US destinations, then if someone feel damaged by an offer of a full refund, they are being unrealistic.

Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure... than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much, because they live in a gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat.

Actually I'm over my frustration in regard to the Superhawk. From now on I'm sticking to dealers I know and trust. As for the $20...glad somebody could use it. There real wasn't anything else I wanted from SP in that price range. Take Care :)

I had this exact same thing happen to me, SuperHawk CF from Sierra! I suspected someone in their warehouse was making some switcharoos. CS was apologetic and they refunded the entire order. Luckily found one on the bay for a few bucks more. Knowing now I wasn't the only one, my first order from them was most likely my last.
Si vis pacem, para bellum.
I suspect that what happened is that someone ordered x Superhawks and x Crossbills. They then put the Crossbills in the Superhawk boxes and returned them. The folks processing the return are unlikely to know what a Superhawk should look like. So the buyer ends up with Superhawks for the price of Crossbills and proceeds to sell them as new without boxes on ebay. They go back into STP's stock as Superhawks and are bought again.Cuervo wrote:I had this exact same thing happen to me, SuperHawk CF from Sierra! Sierra will probably never figure it out.
Our reason is quite satisfied, in 999 cases out of every 1000 of us, if we can find a few arguments that will do to recite in case our credulity is criticized by someone else. Our faith is faith in someone else's faith, and in the greatest matters this is most the case.

In my case I got a Superhawk billed as NIB in a Caly 3 box. I emailed the seller inquiring as to why the item came in a wrong box, but haven't received a reply yet.Sequimite wrote:So the buyer ends up with Superhawks for the price of Crossbills and proceeds to sell them as new without boxes on ebay.
