I started straight razor shaving a few months ago and I for one would like to see a spyderco take on a straight razor. That said, I don't really see a straight razor fitting anywhere in the "spyderco identity". JMO

edit: how's that for playing devil's advocate?!

So which model would you prefer Spyderco stop making so that it can make a straight razor?

Look at the Breeden Rescue, It's about half way there to being a straight razor already. ;)

I'd buy one--but I'll buy just about anything Spyderco makes in US or Japan.

This guy has done it, about as close as I've seen.

Oh, come on. Who says that Spyderco would have to stop making some beloved model in order to start making a straight razor?!

Didn't Mr. Janich tell us that they are working on a HUNDRED different models at any given time? You could gripe, then, that any one of those will take away a beloved current model in order to be brought into production.

If you're asking me to pick, I can leap right to offering up the C103 P'Kal. Never liked it, never had a use for it, would love to see it gone, especially if it were to make way for something truly useful like a straight razor.

I can't say for sure but I'd venture to say that they are pretty near capacity. That only makes sense.

As for the p'kal, once man's junk is another man's treasure. ;)

I used to feel the same way about the p'kal......because I didn't understand it. Now I own 3 of them and one of the trainers. IMO its one of the best, most cutting edge designs I've seen from ANY manufacturer of sharp pointy things. I don't think anyone who truly understand the p'kal and how to use it would ever want to see it go away.

As for the straight razor, id love to see spydercos take on it.

They could put a small hole in the razor like they do on their fixed blades.

I could see this thing done with unlined G-10 scales like a Paramilitary, you know?

As for the P'Kal, I won't deny not understanding it fully. But at the same time, it's the knife I'd select to stop producing if room had to be made for others. Hey, at least I didn't say the Harpy!

I'm sure everyone has the model they think is useless or unappealing. I don't mean to offend those who like the P'Kal.

If they made a razor then they would have to make a "stropmaker" to right :)
