I'm wondering if anyone has any new information on when the Spyderhawk will be released?

Yes, it's an extra-large Harpy in the developement process, with FRN handle. I saw one at Spirit of Steel, and the blade looked to be about 4".

I read on BF that a dealer saw it in a pre-production wholesale list from the company.

I can't wait!!!

Does it retain the harpy shape, or does it have the reverse S profile of the Civilian. (I am guessing it has the former.)

Also, hollow ground or flat ground?

... in the Endura handle...

still don't remeber seeing the steel choice though.

Well, it'll be cool if Spyderco comes up with a S.U.T or sports utility tomahawk or axe.. or something like that.. I had the impression that the SpyderHawk is an Super-Duper Tomahawk.. Maybe they should re-name the large Harpy to "Turbo-Harpy", or "Harp-zilla" or something like that! *hee-hee!* <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="tongue.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

This is what I posted for "riverrodent"
<img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

As a matter o' fact here are some details.

*The item # will be C77SBK.
*The name will be "SpyderHawk"
*Handle will be the Endura Sized FRN Black
*Retail cost on the SyderHawk will be estimated at $89.95 USD.
*Availability has been upgraded for end of November 2002.

Sidenote: all above information is subject to change given unforeseen issues.

It has the neato "hawkbill" shape blade. So, calling it the "merlin's big brother" is a severe understatement! I think you'll enjoy it!

As long as the "chat" is here.....we do have a design for a very slick throwing tomahawk. Is there interest for such an item?

A throwing tomahawk from Spyderco would be great! I've been throwing knives and tomahawks since I was a kid and am always looking for a new, well designed tomahawk or throwing knife.
