Dang. I was going to mention an 18V DeWalt with a 1" spade bit, but it's not a <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>. Makes an interesting pumpkin with a strobe light inside, though. <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

I lean with Joyce on this one folks, especially the K09. Like the add says "The bomb for intricate or artsy food preparation." Works great and makes the cool intricate cuts if yer inta the artsy-fartsy carvings!
All the same though, I hate pumpkins and would just as soon chunk em from a trebouchet as they do at the Chunkin Punkin contest. (I think it can still be accessed thru the Backyard Ballistics Homepage - they also have the hot plans for Spud Guns). So for a second choice I'll back S&S on the DeWalt bit and back it with my third choice the Estwing Safe-T-Shape 3.2 lb geologists pick and hammer.
**** pumpkins anyways! They can all turn themselves into pies or sub-orbital payloads fer all I care. Stupid devolved spawn of the only pair of mating stem breathing squash in captivity! Stinkin' orange abominations!!
Uhhhhh....sorry. Was my bubble just a tad off level for a moment? It's okay now. I'm back and in charge again....Think I'll have a shot of espresso with that pie. Why do these freakin' punkins have to set me off like that.......sorry again. Uh way to go Spyderco. Bye!

DO NOT USE A DREMEL
When I tried using a dremel tool I ended up with a very fine coating of pumpkin rind all over myself and the surrounding area.
I Agree that all but the new catcherman may be a little on the thick side.
Neither I or my parents get any trick-or-treaters, so I will not be carving a pumpking specifically for my doorstep, although I do have a few ideas that you are free to use, esp. if you send me a pic:
"Pinhead" with nails) from "HellRaiser".
A cheap machete, draped with pumkin innards, sticking out of an unhappy jack-O-lantern.
Java, thanks for reminding me. I will be conducting my own pumpkin "experiment" with my Criswell tactical Wakizashi.

The best pumpkin cutter is a Kindergarden.
You ship a couple of pumpkin´s with you´r children. Then 5 hour´s later you pick both up. And the pumpkin´s look great!!<img src="tongue.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>..
The children however are covered in sticky s*** from top till toe!<img src="sad.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
Vox.
Repeat the mantra - "Spydie is good, Round is all - Life is Round, Life is Good, Spydie is Life is Round is LIfe. Round and Round, and Round forever." (Chuck.)
