Thank you !Mako109 wrote:Nemo - wonderful pictures on your blog and great mod to your Paramilitary. Love the look of the handle.
You mentioned that you sanded the G10, then polished it. May I ask you to elaborate on the process a little more? Did you dissemble the knife? What did you use to polish it?
Thanks much...
I did not dissemble it.
I use 400 wood sanspaper and then finish it with polish. (this is a white polish for metal, nothing special...)
You need to be in the open air and far from G10 dust (toxic!!!)
and better wear a mask.
It took me one hour. All by hand.
No big deal.
Thank you.HellHound wrote:O_o Wait what?! How do you know someone around here needs viagra? .... Ohhh, Some1 got burned gooood! :D BTW sweet blog dude. :)
(By just pointing the mouse on the link (without clicking), it's easy to notice it won't go to some pharma site...) :D
Seriously? Not to be argumentative, but how do you get anywhere on the internet? Any link you click in e-mail or on any website could potentially go to a site you don't want it to. Also, you have a link in your own signature line...how does anyone know where that goes?unit wrote:I do not like clicking on links to other sites when I have no idea where I will be taken, or what is on the other end of the link. Just hover your mouse over the link and look at the bottom of your browser window; it will display the URL of the link before you click on it.
It's just not that big of a deal, especially if you have a decent anti-virus/malware application running.
Anyway, the sanded G-10 looks cool.
Sorry if I offended you. I look at links in a similar fashion to advertisements...when you post one, you are hoping to lure a click or share your ideas...either way, it is a great idea to give more introductory info.Firebat wrote:Seriously? The way this link was posted, I felt like the OP would generate more traffic to his site by setting up his link a little better (give people a taste of the passion you intend to share). By adding photos here (and in the other forum where he posted this), I think more people will be inclined to check out his site.
I will gladly pull the link in my sig if you like...I try to share quite a bit here, and I feel like the text explains pretty clearly what the person will see if they go there.
Thanks,

That looks really nice...good to know that after i beat the crap out of my Para scales i can sand them down and they won't look stupid. Then you can get out a file and cut some grips into it if you feel the need.
Oh, and the Para 2 reeeeally needed to come with a black clip. It looks so much better than the chrome.

From my experience, I used medium grit sandpaper, I think 320 grit, to do the basic shaping like knocking down the texturing. And when the surface is smooth, I switch to 800 grit wet/dry automotive sand paper. My final sanding is done with 2000 grit wet/dry sand paper.
The polishing is done with a fine polishing compound and a rag. I used Flitz polishing compound. Going through a few grit steps before polishing saves time spent rubbing by hand. If you have some polish wheels, then a big grit step jump is not as bad.

"Errare humanum est".
I assumed the belly of the Para was more pronounced than the Millie.
My mistake:

Gently convexing my FFG blade too !
I did not reduce the sanding to the handle...
