Clarification

I found out that the natural default for the forum has email notifications turned off. You have to manually turn that feature on.

Just talked to Jon on the phone and he told me. I did have the email but it was through the forum itself.

Here is what is going on.

Some members asked how I was going to give the people on the list first shot at these. I told them I would find away that was cheat proof. There was fear of them getting gobbled up fast with half the list not having a chance. This came about when the requests got larger than the run size.

I at first was going to find out if there was enough interest to pull the trigger on it so I started the list. The list grew slowly at first then suddenly grew faster than I imagined it would.

I had to make sure I give everyone a chance on the list a chance at one since the basicly signed up for one. The list is longer than there will be knives in the run. I cannot guess at how many will drop out so I need to control it till I give everyone on the list a shot at it. As I figure out what the drop out rate will be I will start letting other people in.

Since more where asked for than there will be knives I set it up to make doubly sure that no one got two of them until everyone on the list gets a shot at one.

I have 610 requests for what is probably going to be about 500 knives. I do have to give the guys on the list first shot. I also have about 200 emails asking to get added to the list. I will have to cross the bridge on what to do after I have gone through the list.

It is hard to figure out the difference between slow responders and those dropping out. I have to give it time and any left over I can make available to others.

Going nuts yet? :D

Personally I am very happy to be seeing it done the way it is. Oddly this will be the first knife I ever bought that I actually talked to a human and put a stamp on an envelope.

I am still having night sweats thinking back to the forum Native so maybe this will eliminate the problems that happened with it.

Thanks Jon for the updates and the phone help earlier!

I see a few folks are passing on this knife that received notification. This probably doesn't need to be said but please take time if you haven't already and reply back to the notification to let Jon know if you are no longer interested so we can help him keep his list updated as best as possble.

There are some drop outs but cash has been flowing in very fast today.

We have room for some dropouts though. We where about 610 over requested and a line is forming to get on the list. I don't know they missed it but some of my members from 2 years back never noticed it. We closed off the list sometime ago. No telling how large it would have gotten.

I have 5 confirmed that they cannot swing it right now. That makes me about 105 over requested. We will see what happens. I have not notified 110 of them on the list as I don't know how many are going to drop out yet. Many have requested two of them which is not reflected in the list. I have told everyone that they can only have one until the list is exhausted. I will make sure everyone who wants one gets one before I let anyone have two on this run. One that said they where dropping out ordered about an hour ago.

I will tell you the line to be backup beyond the list is getting fairly healthy.

The reason I took the measures I did was because we where over requested. If we where not over requested I would not have done things the way I am doing them. I did lower the price that I told everyone they would be but that was planned.

Yes! I was in group #401-500. Ordered!

P.S. I saw a lot of forum users from here are also on this second list as well. Glad to see a bunch of my fellow Spyderco forumites made it in this round!

If there is such demand why not increase the sprint #'s to a little higher?
Too many Spydies to list!

I think the fear was that while there was a significant demand, ordering a larger number up front was too large a risk. I believe there is going to be a second run of around 400.

If that info has changed, someone please correct me.

I have always been under the impression that Spyderco wouldn't do that.

There is going to be a second run. I was told I could announce it. It will not appear until Fall.

Hey there
I know about the difficults to get some of the sprint runs.At this time my problem was the bento box shop sprint and i am happy to find one preorder for me.No garanty to hit ,but a chance.
I am in the lucky way to vote for 2 at this sprint, and i send Jon a mail that he can give a 2nd a chance to hit, because i spend my savequeen.I see in past that for me,to many make money on bay with this sprints S90V Para!
For me "Spydie Lover" is it matter of honour to give help when other need.
Thanks Sal and his Spydie people, to make, that so much awesome knifes come true.
