Got my P'Kal today

#1

Post by Grego77 »

Took the plunge and laid down $170.00 for a NIB P'Kal, and must say that I absolutely love this knife. I have larger than average hands and find that the handle is so well designed and has the two finger cutouts in the right places, that reverse grip both edge in & out feel great, I fooled around with saber grip for a while and it felt very comfortable as well. I have read the opposite about the P'Kal...not being a great EDC and not being overly comfortable etc...but I beg to differ :D

The blade to me has a Wharncliffe look to it with a ever so slight downward curve, I think it is one of the best looking blade styles I have seen.

Between the quality of materials and craftsmanship that goes into this knife, I can't find anything negative to say about this knife.

Awesome job Spyderco!

Great to hear you like your new knife :D

quick question, is the caged ball lock still inside those plastic pieces or are they some sort of metal now?

i ask because i saw on the spydie catalog and the grips for the caged ball lock seem to be different than the usual plastic ones that these used to come with.

enjoy your knew knife, hoping i can finally get mine soon :)

Hi there. The ball lock on mine is encased in plastic and has a production code of May 2010 or EJ. I wasn't aware of anything different??

The pic they put in the catalog was never changed from the proto as far as I know so it looks like two little slits. I recently got a pkal via trading with my buddy. On a side not the wave makes a good back scratcher when the knife is CLOSED. Mine seems very solid. It looks a lot better open than closed. Kinda reminds me of the orginal para when closed.

Congratulations! The Spyderco P'Kal is a sweet knife.

I was very impressed with the P'Kal's design when I first saw it, and the Philippine martial art background of this knife gives it charm. It also has some utilitarian use as well, thus making it fairly well-rounded in its applications.
