Spyderco Paramilitary 2 availability

#1

Post by NexusS »

Ive been having a difficult time finding this knife, but I did place an order for the Paramilitary 2 from Cutlery Shoppe the other day for $91.75, but its on backorder. I emailed them asking when it will be in stock, the guy said he didnt know. So, Im wondering are there any other websites that have this knife in stock, and was anyone on here able to buy this knife for less than $91.75? Also anyone have any experiences with Cutlery Shoppe, is it a reputable business?

Cutlery Shoppe is VERY reputable. Excellent service. But, you've picked a knife that is very popular and in short supply. But, I expect eventually production will catch up with demand. You're in the same boat as many people. A lot of people have long-standing back orders. You can definitely feel secure doing business with Cutlery Shoppe.

KnifeWorks is pre-order only and $104.95.
I'm waiting for one too and no one seems to have them yet.

Jeff, the owner seems to have a following at Blade forum. Do a Cutlery Shoppe review search and you'll get results. They seem fine.

Well I just checked my credit card account online, it says i have already been charged for my order so, maybe this is a good sign since on Cutlery Shoppe its says you wont be billed till the order ships.

CS does the initial charge on your credit card then the charge is erased. Once it's about to ship it is then charged again. I think they do the initial charge to make sure the funds are there.

That really is a good price but I guess I'm one of the few who are not totally happy with CS. I did a pre-order on the Orange Manix 2 on Oct.13. They e-mailed me a week and a half ago to ask for my phone number so they could ship it. I replied immediately and it still hasn't shipped. I did e-mail them Dec.29 to see when it's shipping and got a reply the same day "They're in process now". Don't have a shipping notice yet. Maybe this week.

CS's price is about as low as you can get short of becoming a dealer yourself I'd imagine.

As for the charge, it could be just a "holder" charge, where the software put a temporary hold on fund to see if your card has the fund available, and doesn't go through with it. It shows up in your online record, but goes away after a few days since no money was transferred.

They are great for people who live in u.s. but slow shipping is a common complaint for people order from outside u.s.

I have given up on trying to find one of these knives. The miserable experience I have had trying to acquire one absolutely killed any possible enjoyment I would get from owning this knife.

I have one on pre order as well but i am getting tired of waiting and thinking about canceling my order. I will just get one later but for now there are other Spydies that are available screaming for that money.

The Para 2 is available... you won't find it at the checkout counter at the Walmart, but it's out there. I've seen them in stock at several shops. SpydieTalk had a few and they were up for at least a day. Just call around or put an order in, you'll get it. I have no problem ordering it and waiting.

Whats WW? I just joined the forum the other day, Ive noticed while reading several other threads almost no one will type the actual store name without abreviations. Is it an unspoken rule no one mentions a Spyderco dealers name on this forum? :D

Warriors and Wonders is sold out. I think they have ONE left.

Also, did you know they're changing their name to Blades Canada.

Warriors and Wonders. They are based out of Canada and are reputable. We do tend to shorten the names to abbreviations here on the forums, so I'll provide a few translations below.

WW=Warriors and Wonders (good for Canadians)
CS=Cutlery Shoppe
KC=Knife Center
KW=Knife Works
GPK=Grand Prairie Knives
NGK=New Graham Knives (often referred to as "The Pharmacy")
Tom=Tom Berry of spydercovt
YCS=Your Corner Store
STP=Sierra Trading Post

Cutlery Shoppe tends to get their knives in a few days later than the other dealers (or at least they post them up a few days after some of the other dealers), but tends to be a little bit cheaper. I've bought from Jeff (the owner of Cutlery Shoppe) a few times and have only positive experiences to report.

I've bought a bunch of knives from CS and only have good things to say. Prices can't be beat and I've had fast shipping.

In general I suspect most of us would have good things to say about all the Spyderco dealers. I haven't heard stories about any bad ones. So generally speaking, if you find someone selling the Para 2, just check to see that they have a number of other Spydercos for sale, or are Spyderco dealers.

I don't know if anyone mentioned this, but the second run of Para 2's hasn't really hit yet. A lot of the "new" ones I saw hitting were new old stock, with only a few from Nov or dec. I think we're going to start seeing them in stock quite a bit more starting this week or next week. At least, according to the guy I have it pre-ordered with (howesknifeshop.com, check them out if interested, they are great and have free shipping), apparently the next run of Para 2's should hopefully be shipping this week! So be patient, because anyone looking for a Para 2 is in much better shape than I was last August, when there was basically nothing coming up. I'm betting that within 2-3 weeks, many Para 2 searchers will be satisfied. I hope so

I placed a preorder for a PM2 in early Nov at Cutlery Shoppe. I got an email last Tues that it was shipping. It was in the mailbox on Friday evening (just in time for New Years). Last I looked their site said it was on backorder. I doubt they received enough to satisfy all their orders.

This was my first dealings with CS in a long time. I am pretty happy with them. They kept me notified of when it was going to ship.

Hang in there. They will ship them when they get them.
