Native clip taking chunks out of my steering wheel!

#1

Post by bigpaulo »

I have about 5-6 chunks of material missing all around my steering wheel, and for awhile, I thought I was nicking it when eating picnic style in my car... this week, I figured out what the culprit was.

Carrying my Native in my right front pocket, the way I get into my car, my right hip sometimes slides right past the steering wheel. This week, I noticed it hung up a little getting in and right away, bam!, new chunk taken out of my steering wheel, because of my Native clip.

Now I really wish it had a wire clip, not the stamped steel clip.

Anyone else have chunks missing from their steering wheels because of clipits?

There's usually a metal thingy below and to the side of the seat that you can use to move the seat forward or backward. :D

Try using some heat shrink tubing on the clip.
We would rather be the knife in your pocket, because is "works" better, than the knife in your showcase, because it "looks" better.

I wear my shirts untucked, so my clips almost never snag on anything. I have put some small tears in the couch cushion with clips in my back pocket though.

Yeah, I had that happen on a brand new car years ago! Ragged a 1.5" gash in the leather steering wheel. Only lucy part was that it was the bottom side. I'm more careful now!

Yep, me too. Rear passenger driver's side door always getting hit when I swing in. Steering wheel gets raked getting in or out. As previously suggested, move seat back. In my case, it's already back, and it's my fat a$$ that condems me. So now I wear my shirts outside, too.
The other solution is back pocket carry, of course.

Not the steering wheel, but the side of the car right behind the door gets raked when I am to close to the car and go to get in. This happened to my friends brand new Challenger SRT. I was getting out from the passenger side and the clip dragged along the paint inside the door jam. The problem was fixed quickly, and I am much more careful now.

It's part of the new advertising campaign:

I've put some gouges in leather furniture - it's one reason I prefer wire clips.
Our reason is quite satisfied, in 999 cases out of every 1000 of us, if we can find a few arguments that will do to recite in case our credulity is criticized by someone else. Our faith is faith in someone else's faith, and in the greatest matters this is most the case.

Never really had that happen to me. I usually carry in the pocket nowadays because my favorite knives have wire clips and I don't like wire clips. Works out okay though because I've found that inside the pocket is a comfortable way to carry knives.

@rycen: Great suggestion! Trying 2 layers of heat shrink tubing on the tip of the Native clip, will see how that goes.
As for moving the seat or tilting the wheel... doesn't work so well when it's good and cold, last thing I need to do is delay getting into the vehicle (btw, it's a car, not a truck or SUV)

its not eating too much ice cream. i am tall and slender and have this issue. i am very careful getting in and out. also i notice that the location of the rfp pocket can profoundly affect this problem.
