Well, I have heard a lot of nice things about the sebenza, fantasized about getting one, but I don't have all the
Spydies yet, so I guess it will be a while before I stray. Hmmmm.... Does fantasizing count as straying?

Well, after a VERY surprising email this morning, I have to confess that I am going to have to stray a little by trying out an Emerson Commander.
Thanks for the chance to give one a try, Vox. (Seriously leaning towards going ahead with the trade.)

I've never strayed since I started buying knives on the internet about 6 years ago. However I'm being sorely tempted by the new double-bladed Benchmade. It's 3 1/8" Wharncliffe blade would be perfect for cutting up my lunchtime tomato and I could use the small blade for sharpening pencils without freaking out my students . I just hope Spyderco will come out with something similar but with the hole.

Just cause I'm on a diet doesn't mean I can't look at the menu! I'm a beginning KNIFE collector and to restrict my selection limits my perspective. My daily users are always Spydercos due to their overall value and the fact that they won't break me when and if I ever lose or kill one. I have a den full of Delta Zs, a bucket of Benchmades, a gathering of Gerbers, a cache of CRKTs, and a feint few fabulous FBs from Theuns Pinsloo, Don Parish, and Koji Hara. I currently lust after an Emerson Commander, a Kershaw Ken Onion Leek, Brad Duncan Stealth or Platinum Whiplash, and any Kalfayan folder or work by Ed Keller. Will I use em as EDCs? Well, maybe the Whiplash or the Commander but, by-and-large, I am a Spydie user/abuser! I don't consider this cheating, straying or playing around on my Spydies. I always have a Spydie with me along the the "interloper" knife so it's more like a sharing of truths where they compliment each other. Plus when you test your beliefs, it makes them that much stronger. I believe in my Spydies - I trust my life to Spyderco!!!!
"! I did not whittle with that knife!" - Java when questioned about his relationship with his newest, read "intern", Lewinski custom lie-back......er lock-back folder

Interest in knives came first. Interest in Spyderco knives followed. Interest in knives is good and there are many to choose from and study. Some are made for one purpose, others for another. Spydercos are made to carry.
I have many knives in my collection, both custom and production. They are made by very good makers or companies and I enjoy them all. I usually wear a Spyderco because they wear and work well, but my new serrated Chris Reeve Mnandi is a joy to appreciate.
