Nok Nok Whose There: Wooden Training Knife Pics

#1

Post by Dr. Snubnose »

As you all know I recently did a workshop using The "Talon" made by Nok of Nok Training Knives. You can read all about it in my other thread I started about Nok Training Knives in this section of the Spyderco Forum. I came upon an old post on bladesforum by Guro Randall Hodges, the designer of the wooden impact SD tools, padded training knives and wooden trainers made by his wife Nok Hodges.
In this post Guro Hodges posted some pics of some of the wooden trainers his wife has made for him....I was really impressed with the workmanship and beauty of some of Nok's wooden training blades I wanted to share them with you. They are pretty awesome and Nok is one talented lady.....Enjoy!...Doc :D

Thanks guys.
That is a folder. I made two of them in the past. They are a ton of work but I made a spring loaded sliding bar lock on them. I don't think I could ever make them for production but they were fun to try.

Many of the trainers you see are for solo work or controlled paired drills as they are very pointed. Many I made as pressentation gifts that people wanted to give to a intructor or just for display.

When we really train it's with the foam hard contact models so we can go full out and not worry. Some of the wooden blades came out so nice people that were going to train with them couldn't bring themselves to bang them up. Even though I tell them don't worry if you damage it I can make you another LOL

Very nice. I agree with Doc. You make the Voyager look good.
First they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not stand up, because I was not a Trade Unionist.

When Randy and I were talking about what we were going to say and do on the video before filming it he says to me " now Nok when you hit me really hit me don't hold back I want it to look good on the video like a real strike."
I just said to him "Oh don't you worry about that Randy."
