Roncole

#21

Post by RobertoP »

Here I am!
I don't have much time, since I'm now developing my graduation thesis, but I managed to design other recreational stuff. As I said, this time is for a knife inspired by a classical italian hawkbill: the Roncola knife, which is a agricultural tool designed mainly for plants care, even used for mushrooms hunting.

the G-10 handle is just for simplicity, since it's simple to simulate in 3d.. I chosed a orange handle because Tucano birds are so colorful!

Grande!!!!
Roncola its very very nice and can be used much more than 100 scopes without problems, in garden, SD as a concept karambit, mariner scopes, and confortable EDC i think want be more usefull of classic hawkbill with the back straight blade and the mid-final part recurved exactly like we know
Roncola!

I think compression lock want be nice and strong..
Hope to see in production FG!!

Roberto complimenti ancora.

It's passed a while..

Hi everyone! It's passed a lot of time since my last post here, I've been really busy, starting my own business as a sole trader freelance designer, and studying deeply web development.
I'm currently working for italian national broadcasting company Rai as web applications developer, while I do other works as well. I was going to 3d model and render some others Spyderco-like knives, which I sketched some time ago, but I didn't manage to find the time to do it. Anyway, I will upload three other pictures of the Tucano, I did some months ago. :D

Superb designs - really exciting - have a word with Sal and see if the guys are interested to take some of them into production :)

I particularly like the Barracuda and the Pet ... and the Roncola (with the reversed handle) reminds me of a Biltong knife I saw a while ago - very good for pull cuts on curved materials. :D
My spydies: Squeak, Tenacious, Terzuola, D'Allara, UKPK CF peel-ply pre-production, UKPK CF smooth pre-production, UKPK G10 orange leaf-blade, UKPK FRN grey drop-point, UKPK FRN maroon leaf-blade, Bug ... all PE blades :)

Ciao Roberto! Love ALL of your designs! Especially the reverse curve renderings, I wonder how the sleeping cub designed would look with a reverse S blade??

very cool looking knives. maybe Sal will contact you about one of them. i like the tao especially, it would be a perfect money clip. would it be possible to change the tip so it would have the same profile as a dodo? just a thought as some people might want a point on the blade. again, nice designs, bravo!

Thank you all! :) Your kind comments are encouraging and make me want to put even more energies into these things. Next Christmas days I'll look for the time to 3d model another 'recreational design' to share here with you.

Thank you! :) mmm, I could try to edit the line and the 3d model to experiment, it shouldn't take too long. If I'll find the time to do it, I will post some images and keep you informed.

Actually, I'm not fully satisfied with the Tao blade shape, it looks a bit too rounded to my eyes (I think that the most important thing to be a good designer, is to not endear Yourself with your own ideas). I will try for sure to change the tip to make it 'dodo-like' (at first just on 2d blueprints).

Lovely designs :)

I would place the clip on a different part of the Tucano knife, due the curving shape of the handle, the current tip down position of the clip would force the knife to ride in the front side of the pocket making sitting with it possibly quite discomfortable. Maybe a curved clip that follows the natural line of the handle, but tip up mounted would solve this, I guess you can try to render that.

Would love to see the Baracuda, flat ground in CF in production. (That one was for Sal :D )

I like Four, it looks like a Lum with some extra angle to it.
