Why the attraction to CRICKETS?

#1

Post by ~SlingBlade~ »

Why do you think most people are attracted to SPYDERCO little big knife?

I guess for me...It's like my Glock27 small in size..but packs a big bang. I think it's

the small handle w/ the large evil blade that I like. Look's like a toy,but it can gut you...lol And oooh the custom's what a

sweet knife to play with.

Because the Cricket is a simple, little,no BS'er, that packs quite a punch. kind of like that "tiny tank" video game.<img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

1. Unique design - nothing else looks like it

2. Small & lightweight

3. Reverse S curve blade - another original design feature

4. Cuts like the dickens

5. Cool varients to collect like Carbon Fibre, Almite, Yin Yang, Pink...

It's just a cool knife <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

For me it is it's razor sharp blade housed in a very innocent looking shape.

At work I daren't carry even the Calypso Jnr Lwt in the office, if anyone saw it they would be bouncing off the walls. On the other hand everyone thinks the Cricket is "cute", even the blade shape looks non-threatening, probably because they are not familiar with the concept of a re-curve blade <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Walk softly, carry a big stick.

I think for such a diminuative blade it's wicked as **** <img src="tongue.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> In SE it'll give one a **** of a laseration. If Hannibal Lechter was to carry any other Spydie than the Harpy
it would either be the SE cricket ( or probably the Civilian? ) I like the cricket's compactness, and the way it really doesn't "offend" ( especially cops <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>) <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> did
a great job.

Well,
Wait till we start production on the Stainless Steel Cricket!!!!! This is going to be cool! Way thinner than the Carbon Fiber Handle and FRN Crickets. The ETA currently is March 2003.

I saw the ss models at the Spirit of Steel show, a must for me and my Cricket Collection. I have always called for colorful Crickets. Rico

Not to sound heretical here, but whats all the buzz about SS crickets? Or do ye all mean "Engraved" SS Crickets? <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="tongue.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Oh, yes, that would be the ticket. err..... cricket.

""Engraved" SS Crickets?"

Sounds like we've got a candidate for the next Glasshartt Forum Special.<img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

My reason?
All of the above. Besides my rotation of EDC
<img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>'s, my FRN PE Cricket is always with me. I can't wait for the SS Crickets! And hopefully the Glasshartt version as well.

Hey Sal, why the name Cricket for this handy little knife?

J Smith
What would we call this little mutant?
Grasshopper?
Katydid?
Mole Cricket?
Definitly not Locust!

Knife Knut on a shoestring budget.

A name is easy for that type: Mantis. <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Cricket is good luck.

We wanted Mantis for another model a while back. A custom maker was using it. We tried to purchase the name from him, he thought it was worth more than we did.

One must be careful with "bug" names as many fear bugs.
