Hey forum, its been quite a while since i picked up my Endura 4. I actually had a friend grab it for me back in august, and for whatever reason, i never got around to making a review and taking pictures. I always make a little review for you guys because if you guys are doing me the service of recommending knives, i should let you know how i like them.
Mine, in particular is an Endura 4, hollow grind, Black FRN with plain edge, and VG-10 steel.
First off, I'll talk about the weight. At 3.6oz, its quite a light folder, yet is very tough. I hardly ever notice it in my pocket, and the clip that came with it holds tight, and never slides around. I very much enjoy the feel of the knife in my pocket, and if it were legal, i would bring it to school. (Seeing as i'm probably one of the youngest on the forums, being a Sophomore in high school.)
Next i'll talk a bit about the FRN. I am VERY satisfied with the FRN on this particular folder. Its extremely aggressive, so there is grip when you need it, and is great for use with gloves. Hence one more reason that the spydiehole is very useful. One hand opening this knife with a glove is valuable. The FRN also has gimping on it right between the thumb ramp and the lock bar. I am a huge fan of gimping, and this is probably the most gimping i've ever seen on a knife. I love the FRN a lot, and there is actually a little ramp for your pointer finger to comfortably slide over in a natural position over the blade opening. It also has Stainless steel inserts to reinforce the FRN.
The Blade itself is outstanding. I believe that its called a "Leaf" pattern (correct me if i'm wrong) but in the plain edge, it is a beauty to cut with. Simply cutting anything like a stick of butter. Holds an edge extremely well so far, as i haven't needed to whip out the old whetstone just yet. The VG-10 is one of the strongest steels i've seen, and although it doesn't work harden like my pacific salt, i am very happy with it. The thumb ramp has very aggressive and effective gimping, which i love.
The pivot lock came at the perfect setting, and lazer sharp. So really, i have nothing to complain about with this knife at all. Everything is perfect. I have had it for about 3 months of EDC, and i love it. One of the most valuable purchases with Spyderco that i have made.
A huge thank you to Spyderco for making such a great knife. Overall, i would give it a 9.5/10

It's actually sabre ground; if it were a hollow grind, it'd curve inwards as it approached the edge. Otherwise, great review. I've been looking at the FFG colored ones for quite some time now and I do believe this has put me over the edge.

the endura is one of my favorite spyders too. i see you have some clip wear, i removed the powdercoat from mine and on my police 3 and polished out the ss clips. no more scratched up powdercoat, plus think it looks better than the black.

I've made plenty of bad purchases, and I am sad to say my brand new endura is among them. The blade was dulled after cutting up three of four boxes. It is a good thing spyderco sells a sharpmaker, their blades certainly need it. I will never purchase another one of these over-rated knives again. Seki city? Is that a phonetic pun? A flagship blade, that without paid postings, would be laughed at. Later, thanks for taking my money and giving me a piece of garbage.

One thing is for certain, you are not accomplishing anything here. The little satisfaction you think you have is an illusion as everyone here has about the opposite experience with their Spyderco knives. As for all of us being Spyderco employees, sometimes perhaps I do feel that I am part of their great company in that the owner himself makes very frequent and very insightful appearances on this forum answering our questions (often within the day) and with the large amount of cash I've dropped on their products (which I've come to appreciate as some of the very best in the business), sometimes I feel like I am their employer funding their payroll with my frequent purchases (and the others like me out there)!
