my new Native

got it in the mail today, what a nice knife. As much as I like full flat ground knives i just think this blade has such a sexy shape i couldnt resist. It is a black frn model with the s30v blade, which came super sharp. as do most spyderco knives it would seem. it seems to have a very nice grind angle and i think ill leave it as is. It opens and locks very solid, i could detect no blade play in any direction. the handle is smallish for my hands which run a bit large, though its comfortable in hand and more so choked up finger in the choil. the jimping on the back of the blade is very sharp and grips my thumb well, but the choil lacks any jimping but is deep enough to give a finger a secure grip. the handle lacks liners but with this knife i think thats a plus as it keeps the weight down and seems strong enough for any job i can think of for a blade in this size range. Like my Manix 2 the Native is marked Golden Colorado U.S.A. Earth. which i find very cool. i like this knife, i think im going to edc it in favor of some of my other spyders for a while at least. im not shure theres a cooler blade anywhere at the same price point, let alone one made in the u s a.

what would i knock on this knife? if i think of something ill tell you. This knife captures simplicity and beauty combined with an awsome steel. it is definatly a steal.

The Native is like a terrier, a lot there for the size.

I also recently added a Native LWT all black to my new and rapidly growing collection. I also love the shape of the blade on this one.

My first Spyderco was a Native SE and i still have it. It's gonna get shipped back to Golden to get resharpened soon. I eventually want a PE version. I really miss the barrel screw clips...i thought that was a great design and i love how the lanyard hole goes through the middle. That clip design should've come on the Manix 2, then maybe everyone wouldn't cry about not having screws in the butt of the handle.

The Native was also one of my first Spydies, and I carried it every day for a couple months. I really like the blade shape and grind. Definitely a LOT of knife for the money.
