Military vs Para-Military Poll
I own and love several of both. My vote goes for the Millie, but I do have two quirks with them:
1. Adjustment is tricky, as if the blade screw is not properly fastened the blade will wobble against the scales when opening it. Too much torque will slow down the opening. Blade centering is hard to achieve (but doable);
2. The lanyard loop is a major design flaw. If the knife falls butt down on a hard surface, it will come loose and have to be press-fitted or superglued back (have used both methods with good results).
Although the Para doesn't seem to suffer from these minor points, and the design is amazingly well balanced, the Millie's larger blade and better "apparent" size/weight ratio (feels lighter than it is, and is truly pocketable yet big) win by a small margin.
Either way, these are my two favorite Spydies, by any measure. i'm never without one or the another on my right front pocket.

I have a mili and gave away my Para to nephew. The military by far is super light for its size, very comfortable and geometrically shaped for extreme results.. .there is no comparison for me ..
I also live in a state where I can carry any folder I wish . I believe this poll is slanted and the results reflect this... just saying...

I Own both
I do own both but prefer the Military over the Para Military. We will see when the S90 Sprint of the Para 2 comes out. I doubt it will beat out my S90, BG-42, or M4 Militaries for pocket time though.

The paramilitary 2 is plain awesome!....however as a left handed user, it is a little difficult to get the compression lock disengaged with the left hand...paramil 2 lefty? :)
Planning on getting a lefty military some time in the next few months...the paramil has wet my appetite. then i swear ill be done!!!!
like that will ever happen...i may need to drop on that CF S90V paramil and trade for a mili with my para2...

I TOTALLY AGREE...if they made a lefty paramil with like s90v and carbon fiber....or carpenter and g10 that would be so sawwweeeeeeeeeeeet!!!!!!!!The Deacon wrote:Do own a couple versions of the Military, but not a fan of either it or the Para. To me, they're both are excessively bulky and have overly thick blades. Heck I wish Spyderco would come out with a 2mm thick bladed version of the Stretch. :D Not to mention that all versions of the ParaMilitary and all but one version of the Military are wrong handed.
Hint hint spyderco... :spyder: para military 3 make a lefty version too!
