Military vs Para-Military Poll

#1

Post by mrjefe2u »

While reading another blade forum (hint), I noticed a Spyderco sub-forum and many of you are aware of an ongoing "favorite 3 Spyderco's" thread.

The Military and the Para-Military seem to be highly thought of. I bought the Para with Digicamo last week and my only beef is the tip down carry but I can live with it in larger folders.

Your thoughts on these 2 knives?

Love both, but I wish the clip was as robust and had the same black plating finish as on the Military.

Para 2 is my choice. I have the Carpenter steel sprint on preorder. I have a Military and it is a great knife. But the compression lock is my favorite design.

Yes they are classics that every one should at least try.

Both are great. I like and use both but honestly I have come to realize a lot more differences than similarities with the two...that may be why I like them both.
Thanks,

I like both but the Military would be my "if you could only have one knife" knife.

I always come back to carrying the Military...

I have several Paramilitary knives... and I carry them some (love the back-lock) but I always seem to grab the PS Millie!

If I had to vote, it would be the Military hands down. Although both are good, the ergos on the Para seemed to be made for someone else! My hand seemed to be a tad too big. I never considered a Mille until after the all ti framelock addition. Take care all and God Bless! ;)

I voted Para. The extra length takes a wee bit more space in my pocket and makes it less sheeple friendly.

While I am not a huge fan of the liner locker, I despise the compression lock. Military gets my vote.

Don't get me wrong, I don't not like my Military, I just don't really like the liner lock on it. If I could get a Military with a back lock I would be happy...or ball lock...I would kill for a ball bearing lock on a Military.

I like the Military a lot, but I find it's too big for most tasks I perform. The Para is a better size for me, and the Para 2 is my current all-time favorite EDC knife.

I own both, but prefer the Military.

If I didn't have to be a bit politically correct at work I'd carry a Military in the office as well. As it is I'm carrying a Para2 when working in the city and a Military on other days.

Do own a couple versions of the Military, but not a fan of either it or the Para. To me, they're both are excessively bulky and have overly thick blades. Heck I wish Spyderco would come out with a 2mm thick bladed version of the Stretch. :D Not to mention that all versions of the ParaMilitary and all but one version of the Military are wrong handed.

So far, my tip up CF Military is the go to knife.
Super light, and is no problem in my office work enviornment.
Also great when wearing shorts as it carries so well.
(compact, light & large)
M4 Millie could be my favorite winter folder....... Will be even better when it gets the tip up treatment.

The new CF S90v Sprint Para might give 'em a run for the money.
Will know very soon! I hope! :D

Own both (so feel qualified to have an opinion) - strongly prefer the Military.

The Para is my favourite, it's a more practical as an EDC, and yes the Millie scares the kitties.
On a desert island I'd take the Military however, and when I get my hands on a Para 2 it might just become my number 1.
