PB Washers in the Ti/G-10/M4 Military
PB Washers in the Ti/G-10/M4 Military
Mostly to Brad S., but really anybody who has taken a Ti/G-10/M4 apart
Just on the off chance I am a dumb a$$, and don't know any better, when you take your knife apart, it has 1 PB washer on each side of the blade, right? Look as I may, I can only see washer(s) on the Ti side. Now there may be 2, it is hard to tell with all of the reflections down in there.
And no, before you ask, I have not taken anything apart YET!!!.
Question is, do I send it back to Golden  ? Now I have shipping cost, another waiting period, and God, what if it gets lost in the mail  .
The knife is a user, so I have no problem taking her apart, presumably after getting a new set of washers from CO.
Opinions????

Why are you asking these questions, Is there a problem with your knife?
Or do you just want to make sure both sides have washers?

More S90v & CF please.......

I have looked and looked, and while there may be 2 washers on the Ti side, there are 0 on the G-10/nested liner side. Really what made me notice it was that the opening action is way less smooth than my S90 military. Pics coming if i can get them to turn out.

If you live in the States I'd recommend contacting Spyderco and have them take care of it.

There should be 1 washer on each side. It seems odd that they would make the mistake of putting 2 on one side, but could still be possible.
If your sure there are 2 on one side.
I would recommend, taking just the pivot off the knife with a T15 torx removing both washers and placeing them one on each side, and then replace the blade and the pivot. I dont think that would void the warranty since your only touching the pivot, which are common to adjust. I wouldnt take it apart any farther than that.

Given that a few of these have already changed hands, I guess the question that needs to be asked is was the knife purchased new, or on the secondary market.

Looks like you only got one washer!
Hate to say it, but send it in. Spyderco will fix it asap and get it back on its way.
Better yet, call... maybe they will just send you the washer...
But I bet they will say send it in.

Had to ask, Fred. I've read to many posts of people taking things apart and losing pieces not to. Definitely contact Spyderco and see if they will send you the washer, or prefer that you send them the knife.

I broke down and asked for washers today, we will see if they can ship me some
Deacon, i hear your message. While I am not a guru of disassembly, I have taken apart pretty much everything else I own: S90V Military, ZDP E4, BM 9100 and 943, and an old-style Manix. They all went back fine, I would say the E4 was the hardest.

Yup i had a Manix that had 2 on one side. Wasn't crazy, sent it back and came back perfect. I mean the difference was incredible.JNewell wrote:I think I recall a Manix 2 leaving the factory that way. Your options would be (assuming you have two washers, but one's in the wrong place) to fix it yourself or send it back to either KW or S.
