Para 1 clip question

#1

Post by JEFF B »

Do the clip screws of the original Para thread into the liner at all, or just the g-10.The knife is fairly new to me,and its kinda hard to tell with them being on the pivot end.I bought it at a show.I wanted a Millie, but none to be found,so i settled for a Para.Glad i did so far,but if those screws just go into the g-10 i would have to consider that a weakness.Seems like i catch my clips on everything possible.

AFAIK Spyderco always taps the screws all the way to the liners.
In cases where there are no liners they use a screw & bolt type of solution, kinda like on the Salt series (linerless FRN), where they use a barrel bolt or the G10 UKPK's (linerless G10) where they use a screw and a bolt to secure a wire clip in place.
So no need to worry, the Para is a well proven design as far as durability goes. :)

They key into the liners. No worries, it is a very tough design.
Thanks,

You didn't "settle" for a Para as they are a great knife! Some feel they are a bit unbalanced as far as handle/blade ratio but I see it as great control of a 3" premium blade. ;) The clip is a tank, don't worry about it.
