BTW, maybe I dreamed this, but I thought I read somewhere that Sal said he would never do a clip knife again w/o liners. If I have that right, what does that say about the chances of a Caly Jr. sprint run?

I'd get one if it had liners or was a SS handle with an adjustable pivot.

Well, looks like maybe I did dream it---Sal is quoted in this thread (post #2) about the planned new Dragonfly as saying it will have a clip and no liners: http://spyderco.com/forums/showthread.php?t=45686 :o

The FRN UKPK has no liners either.

In fairness to you, Sal still may have said it. Just in a more specific context like the three screw clip on unlined micarta and G-10 handles. Of course one could also argue that, while the FRN Calypso Jr. doesn't have "liners", it does have "hard points" for clip mounting. Can't recall anyone ever posting pics of a Calypso Jr where one or more the embedded metal inserts tore out.

None of which is to say another Sprint will ever happen. There's still the fact that Sal said the model had been permanently retired. But it never hurts to ask. :D

I would be interested in a Caly Jr.. Maybe a forest green or a burgundy? Would like to see some of these come out in some richer colors, although not as important as the knife. I would buy at least a couple, maybe gift some depending on price point.

+1 on some thumb jimping.

Thanks, Paul. My memory is vague on this, and it easily could've been in a particular context---if he said it at all!

On the liner issue, though, I did come across an interesting thread from 2004, where Paul and others were discussing them, and sal weighed in with a good outline of his views on the matter: http://spyderco.com/forums/showthread.p ... %22clip%22

I'd be down for another run. I wasn't around when these knives were in production. I wouldn't mind seeing a ZDP blade that wasn't laminated. I really like the look of the FRN fish scales. But if the molds are out of the question, I guess I will have to settle for Micarta  darn

It would have to have something special.
I have four and modded a couple of them. Here is my fav, carbon fiber "flintknapped", titanium liners, carbon fiber spring holder, 3/16" pivot pin.

I would not mind one, but I would have to wish for tip up carry.
