When is the last time you pulled out your <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> to use in public, and had the sheeple get all frightened?



I know it's common in this day and age to scare sheeple if you use anything more than about an inch.



I took out the millie to cut a tag off my neice's doll I bought her this weekend, and the sheeple kind of created a circle around me. None wanted to be the one closest to the 'knife wielding maniac'.

I currently try not to raise too many eyebrows, but there was a time when I was messing with switchblades. Just imagine the reaction of the sheeple when I was taking it out to cut a piece of paper or a box. I even remember that restaurant and they had those awful knives that were no good, you barely could say where,s the edge and where's the spine <img src="sad.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>, so I took out my auto in order to cut out the food and all those heads at the nearby tables turned towards me <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> Well, they relaxed eventually when they saw the knife passing to the other people at the table so they can eat too <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Hi VW,
I just got my rescue and i've got it in my pocket eversince. But at work or in public I do not dare to get it out and pratice with it.
Maybe I'm afraid I WILL get strange looks...
In Holland a knife or any ohter weapon-like thing is very uncommon.
You can start smokin a joint in almost every street corner (and just get strange and annoyed looks) but showin' a knife in public is just 'not done'.

I believe, IMHO, that anyone who carries a medium or large knife should also have a tiny utility blade to use around the general public. Sheeple always think a knife is much larger than its actual size. For many years I carried an Al Mar SERE folder, and I mean the BIG one made in the 80's. My co-workers were often alarmed when they saw it and I was often told it was illegal. But, no, the blade was 4 inches, and the legal limit in Texas is 5.5 inches. (Not that I have to worry; in Texas peace officers can carry just about anything, being an exeption to the weapons statutes in the penal code.) It may seem "cool" to scare sheeple, but just remember that someday, you may have to use a knife in self-defense, and an investigator, who is trying to determine whether charges should be filed, may very well interview co-workers, classmates, and others who know you. It is not a good idea to be known as the scary guy who likes to frighten people with his knives. By the way, I do believe in the right to carry weapons, and in the right of self-defense, and that most weapons laws are misguided.

I thought it was illegal to smoke on even streetcorners. At least, when I was in Amsterdam everyone had to go to bars to do it.

And I carried my blade when I went through the city. <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> Nobody said anything, but I was a tourist and I don't think anyone noticed.

I try not to take my blade out in front of people. I do have my blade in hand most of the time, just playing with it out of nervous habit. But never actually flip the blade, so nobody cares.

I'm waiting on my meerkat from Mrs. Glasshartt as we speak, my new sheeple knife.

It IS illegal to smoke at a streetcorner, but nobody would look strange if you did.
And the police would just take the joint and send you away.

But if you got caught with a knife, people would look scared. Unless it would be a simple small utility knive.

The police would certainly start asking questions if they saw you would carry a knife that looked too big. If it would be illegal you would get a big fine or be arrested!

In other words, in the Netherlands, showing your endura in public is not apreciated.

Just recently I pulled out my Civi to show a friend and he flinched when I opened it.

A few years back, I kept my FRN (integral clip) Rescue SE in my back pocket. A few guys at work noticed it. They freaked out when I showed them the blade (it's so big!??). I switched to IWB RF carry shortly thereafter. I also picked up the FRN native CE and SS Dragongly PE about that time. I carried the 'fly for dress, and native EDC. People still balk at the native.

Last year a guy needed a knife and I handed him my native. Again, he freaked. Weird. The SS Dragonfly is the most sheeple friendly knife I carry. I've never gotten reaction to it.

I wear my FRN CE Native openly, rigged for left carry, on the outside of my belt, left side. So some reason I get less reaction reaching for it, than I do for getting out the Military in my RF pocket.

Just scared the ppl in my class on tuesday. Opened a package of 'Nibs' with my Military as it was the only one I had. I was out job hunting, got home, had supper, and went to class...

I had fun scaring the cr@p out of a buddy of mine at work by whipping out my new <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> Civilian so he could check it out. Thank god i live in the south where 99% of us don't give a rats*****what idiotic people think.
I do get a few stares every now and then when i pop out my BM auto, kinda fun to do it around cops here as usually they ask where they! can get 1 like it.
The garden variety hoodlum don't carry many 150+ buck knives.
But seriously if i lived or worked in an area where lots of sheeple were present i'd probably not wanna cause any undue alarm. Ron

I make it a point to try not to scare the shepple. Their easily rattled as it is. Though, I think the last time was with my Civilian. It it a most impressive blade.

I don't like the term sheeple. It implies that you know more than they do and that they are easily led. I would imagine that I could pull out any kind of knife anywhere and no-one would raise an eyebrow. I *never* get odd looks when I do. I think this is becuase I am 51 years old and dress and act respectibly. People know they can trust me by my demeanor. OTOH, if I were young and dressed in the latest style, people might react when I pulled the blade out of the scabbord. IMO, its not the knife but the person. People go by first impressions and even though they might be wrong (Ted Bundy, Jeff Dahmer), this is all they can do.

Put on a suit and whip out your mille to open an envelope and I'll bet that no-one will bat an eye.

Happens to me every day.
