Have you ever handled any of the above knives? I just recently bought an Endura and it is much bigger than you would assume based on pictures and specs. If your main concern is EDC and you aren't purchasing it as a possible self defense weapon then I would go with the Delica. I'm not a Spydie expert, just my .02c

That being said, I love my Endura and plan on getting both a Delica and the Stretch. :D

Go with ZDP for longer edge retention, VG for easier sharpening. Go with the Delica if you're living in or around a city, Stretch or Endura if you live in out in the country/have a specific reason for needing a longer blade.

Hard to go wrong with a Delica. The Stretch is a bit bigger, but is a fantastic knife too. The Endura is bigger than I need most of the time.
So many knives, so few pockets... :)

Delica. Classic first spyderco. If you want lightweight, go with frn. If you want heftier, solid, go with G10.

Delica ZDP, tough and strong, but very sharp and will stay sharp. Have to touch it up before it gets dull though. ZDP189 is a fantastic steel!! Just keep it sharp and have some diamond stones on hand when it comes time to reprofile.

Stretch and Endura are also good, but know it is better not to let ZDP get dull unless you are very comfortable sharpening.

Of the knives you mentioned, I'd say Delica FFG VG-10 or the Carbon Fiber ZDP Stretch (that knife is amazing).

Or just get all of them.

If I had to choose one I would pick the stretch...it's my favorite FRN folder by far and one of the best spydies ever. They're all awesome though, as evidenced by me buying all 3 of them

One of the Stretch models with ZDP-189, either the FRN or Carbon Fiber depending on your budget. My Stretch CF is the best EDC I've ever had.

Having said that, you should become with your local laws. There may be blade length limits or lock restrictions that will bound your choices in an EDC. This link had some great information that's usually up to date. There's no indication of where you live, so can't be more specific.

Stretch, Delica, Endura: all of these would be great blades to purchase but in all cases I would suggest getting them in VG-10. In the role of general EDC VG-10 has excellent stain resistance, wont easily chip and can easily be resharpened. Its one of the best all-around steels even though it doesn't receive the same hype as some other blades steels

but in the long run...you cant go wrong with ANY spydies. they are all well built and made for work

Delica, they make it in every flavor you can imagine, stainless steel handles, G-10, several shades of FRN, Saber grind and FFG. Plus it's the perfect size for an EDC knife.

Blue FFG Delica and a Sprint run LG Persian......
(Persian because you will regret it if you don't) :D

Best EDC would be the CF ZDP Stretch II of the one's mentioned.......

So, you really need (3)............

I'd go with blue FRN Stretch w/ZDP out of the three you mentioned. For me the Stretch made the Endura obsolete and it is a great knife. I have a Michael Walker for a small EDC. 2.5" ZDP blade with CF handle. I like the FRN more than CF for a handle when it comes to using a knife. My M. Walker did look silver laying on a table one time because of the way the light was hitting it. That was cool. Plus I like the liner lock on the MW. It feels good in my hand even though it is kind of funny looking. I really love the Stretch though. Why couldn't Spyderco just make one knife and eliminate all this decision making. It's harder than ordering coffee at Starbucks.

I think ZDP 189 is a wonderful steel. Do you currently sharpen your own knives? What sharpening equipment do you use? What steels do you already have experience using? What size (blade length) is your current EDC? What drew you to the models you are considering? What do you normally use your knife to cut?

Thanks,

Doug

Doug, you forgot to ask him where he was Tuesday night. Actually those are the questions to ask someone before recommending a knife to anyone. Good job.

Yes i do sharpen all my own knives as well as a bunch of friends knives, been a sharp freak since birth i think...lol. as far as sharpening of steels i guess a bunch of different all basic stuff,01,d2, 154,1095,vg10,s30v??? probably some i had no idea that it was what it was just sharpened it... As far as the models i chose i just like the looks and blade shapes, grinds and wanted to try the zdp for myself. I carry either Benchmade 940 osbourne,Izula,Buck110, esee3 or 4, love the 6 though, knives of alaska folder, and a bunch of others that just get thrown in the pocket at will. Mostly use diamond stones, wet combination stone, all by hand no gizmos..... I hope that kind of helped you out, as far as what i cut that list is never ending. I keep edges up to par just want to try something new and im going with Spyderco because i havent owned 1 in Quite awhile..... So any suggestions??????

My first and only Spyderco so far is the Persistence and I simply love it!
Really sharp out of the box, perfect size for EDC imho.

I know the steel and the country of origin are "wrong" but for a first one I think it's great.

Got it a week ago and I'm constantly playing with it, so much that my other knives are crying for attention...

Sure will not be my last.

just my $0.02 :)

From the three choices offered I would go with an FRN stretch ZDP. great ergos for an EDC blade, relatively lightweight, less expensive than CF. If you really love it you could always upgrade to the CF later and send me the FRN model.

Good luck with your decision.
