The new model is the same size as the original kiwi.

It really wasn't designed to be easily one handed. It's more of a "pocket" knife that's ok in areas like Germany and New York, where laws are prohibitive.

I imagine we could add a clip if our customers would prefer one?

Only in 470 sq miles of New York, Sal. Darn near any Spyderco other than a Citadel or Embassy is good to go in the other 54,000 square miles of it. ;)

Sal, thank you for the clarification.

I must admit though, I would have been very excited if it was delica sized like said in the prototype stages.

Nun the less, thanks and hope to order two soon.

You can make one with a clip for me Sal! :D

I will try to pick one up this week and take it to Europe on the honeymoon for a 2 week test and review.

Still hoping for pics Jim!

ohh frown! they came in those stupid little bug boxes! i had exactly 18 other mini's in the bag and i ordered 2 on purpose so the bag would fill up perfectly. 10 back to back with 10. i dont like them. i guess maybe they are cheaper but i would have much preferred the normal small red spydie box. boy what a let down. i know it seems silly to ***** about the box a knife comes in but still that's what i was expecting and i got something different.

also:
no persian yet... i thought i would get the persian before the kiwi. anyone kc preorder for the persian hit this week? i cant wait to see that g10. im told its really smooth

what i meant was in my little ocd world everything has to "fit" perfectly and look perfect. if i had two more red little boxes i could finish off a 4th "small size" package group. like this:

Looks like the SlipIt Kiwis are coming in nicer boxes than the "real" Kiwis did.

Sorry for the delay, I've been working some long hours to get some design reviews out the door. Below are some comparison pics of the original Kiwi (Red Bone) and the new Slipit (All Stainless). Note, the new Kiwi is a tad longer with a wickedly sharp tip, ouch (I know from experience).

As follow up to what I wrote earlier, sure the Slipit Kiwi requires two hands to open, but the original Kiwi is not all that easy to open with one hand due to its small size. I do like the authoritative snap when this Slipit opens and closes. (A bit of warning. Be careful closing this knife; if you are closing it with the end of the handle in your palm, this little bugger will nip you :) )

The Video got me pumped for both knives! I have always wanted a Stainless Kiwi(original), but didn't want to spend what they are going for. This new Slip it version looks like a real winner for a great price.Looks like the perfect model for a slip it also. With that deep finger Choil it will be perfectly safe as a slip joint.......now if we can have a Kiwi 3.25 we would be set! :D

You're correct Paul, but we still have to service the market. The other 54,000 square miles are permitted to get our other stuff.

There are also a number of countries overseas that will like the slip-joint version.

It's a good low cost platform for aftermarket people like Santa Fe Stoneworks
