I see there is news of another wildfire west of Boulder.
I don't know how far the fire is from Golden, but I hope none of the Spyderco employees or their families have lost anything to the fires.
It sounds like a real challenge to get the fires under control, with the dry conditions and strong winds. If only we could send some of our Texas rain their way (parts of Dallas/Ft. Worth got 5 to 8 inches of rain in a few days last week).
Colorado Wildfires
Let's hope it doesn't go west
The Spyderco factory and business will be fine. It is inside the city of Golden and fire hydrants are on the block. I went out to Winter Park this summer which is in the heart of the Rockies next to Rocky Mountain National Park. Why do I mention this... because they have a pine beetle epidemic that has left thousands of acres of pine trees dead and dry. Entire valleys are now brown instead of green from the pines. I lived in Boulder six years ago and never saw anything like it when I lived there for 11 years. They are very lucky that the winds usually blow from west to east. If the mountains catch fire then everyone will suffer greatly as Colorado relies heavily on tourism.
Hope for the best.

The fire was about 30 miles north of Golden, so it was well out of the way. The fire is 100% contained as of 8pm monday. It burnt about 6,200 acres, and approximately 200 structures (166 homes) were lost. Thankfully no one lost their lives. Though i didn't work on the fire lines, I helped out a lot of the victims, and I honestly cant imagine the same happening to me and my family.
I forgot to mention there's another wildfire now, in Loveland County about 80 miles north of golden (the Reservoir Road Fire), which is about 65% contained last i saw. They were really lucky all those tankers and ground crews were sitting around pretty much done with the 4-Mile fire.
