Girlfriend just got her first knife and I didn't even suggest it.

So I went to Kittery, ME to the Kittery Trading Post with my girlfriend. We started looking around and quickly found the knife section. I was loving the fact that they had a on of different brands. Unfortunately their Spydie selection was disappointing to me. I started looking at other knives in there. There was WAY too many serrated blades. I'm not one to really like SE, I prefer PE for just about everything. Well I ended up liking the Benchmade 940, after about 20 minutes of mulling it over in my head I decided against it. I just couldn't justify spending $160 for a blade that I only liked. I ended up looking at the Kershaw selection and the Zing in orange started to grow on me.

As I was asking the clerk to take it out of the case for me my girlfriend asked: "If I were to get the pink Native over there would you leave me alone about not having a knife?"

I said "Yeah as long as you carried it with you." We're always busting on each other because of my knife habit. She says I don't need any more and I make fun of her every time I see her use one of mine saying if only she had a knife so she wouldn't ruin mine. (Yes just joking around)

Well we ended up walking out with a Kershaw Zing in orange (my first Kershaw) and a Spyderco Native in pink (her first knife).

They might have mis-labeled it, that's the kershaw zings, not scallion.

Nice catch you got there.
Good thing you decided against the 940 as you can get 'em online for around 120-130$. :)

If she doesn't have it already buy her the Michael Janich video "Martial Blade Concepts" so she'll know what to do with it if called on to use it.

You made a good choice! Scallion has 420HC if I recall, the 14c28n on zings is much better, plus it's not as slippery as the SS handle on scallion.

Great first knife for a female feels great in the hand!... I'm sure she will be stealing ALL of your knives in no time!!!... And how do you like the Zing?..
Also..... Dose she know you posted this pic of her?... If not I would suggest you make sure she never finds out! Most women would kill the person who posted a pic of them with out make up, hair done or dressed to go out of the house!...

Happy couples - you & your girl, as well as the Zing & Native. :)

Zing's a great little knife. Very snappy action, some of the best I've found on a production flipper.

I would agree! I bought my wife her first knife (purple Spyderco Delica) last week at Martial Blade Camp. She loves it and has started to carry it. Soon, I will start her MBC lessons!
