Caly 3 VG10 G10 Fans?

[I'm with the Deacon - why did they disco the PE Caly3 in G10, but keep the CF/ZDP version? I wonder if it has something to do with the Caly3.5 coming out. Maybe they figured a half inch difference wasn't enough of a market niche.]

I've been EDC-ing a Caly 3 G-10 since it came out. IMHO it's the best all-around Spyderco knife ever--grip, ergos, low-ride clip, etc. I hate to second guess the powers that be, but I can't figure out why such an acclaimed winner was discontinued. Even the 2009 catalog says it's been called "Spyderco's finest folder design to date." Maybe it was sales and/or price point, but from the model's popularity on this Forum, I'm not sure. Also, with all the problems lately with pocket knife carry laws and the number of places that restrict carry to 3" or even 2", why go larger on the blade, as in the upcoming Caly 3.5 or the Para 2? Like so many others, I sure wish I had bought at least one more G-10 PE while I could...

I bought three (one NIB and two lightly used after Caly3 was discontinued). So you can do it, just keep your eyes open on forums and e-bay.

I kept the last one I had for sale at my store when they were discontinued. It's got a lot of features I love (blade shape and grind, size and clip, etc.). But the handle is just a bit too small for me, Delicas feel much better although they are almost the same size. Ever since I got my hands on a G-10 Delica I've been using my Caly 3 a lot less. I wish somebody put a Caly blade on a Delica handle!

I still think it's an awesome design, a great urban EDC.

even thought the new caly3.5 is coming out I feel that that blade might be too big. I like the tiny more stubby look of the 3

I'd love it if they made a sprint run of the Caly 3 in Super Blue. Slap some navy blue G10 on it and I'd pick up 2! :D

Is Caly3.5 not good enough?
For me it is almost perfect. Still I keep my Caly3 (three of them).
