Some pics for ya:

My Precious #1 and Precious #2:

With other Spydies for size comparison:

Thanks man, I see you're a fellow T-Dot resident. These Stainless Steel clips are made by McGizmo. I got my first set a few years ago from Berkeley Point I think, but TAD Gear and LightHound sells them now also. My second set was purchased from Lighthound. I normally buy 5 or 10 each of the Nano and Micro sizes at a time but they are about $3 each depending on which size.yuldeli wrote:Great pic NaturalMystic, I appreciate seeing comparison photos. Can you tell me where you picked up the clips you have on your bug and grasshopper?
I also use these Mcgizmo clips from lighthound.NaturalMystic wrote:Thanks man, I see you're a fellow T-Dot resident. These Stainless Steel clips are made by McGizmo. That's the Nano sized (20mm long) on the Grasshopper, Honeybee and Bug.
On my last order I also got 2 of the TEC Accessories P-7 SS pocket clips shown on that link I provided above but lost one of them last weekend. I'll probably have to order a couple more of those.
Yeah the low rider clip is one of the things I really like about the Caly3. Variety is the spice of life though right?alancamby wrote:I like my Caly 3 even more once I installed a P'Kal clip.
I am in the minority here, but I prefer the higher pocket carry.

My pleasure!yuldeli wrote:Thanks for the link!
BTW, which local knife shop were you referring to? If I don't buy online I usually get my knives from Sean and Rodney at S&R Knives in Woodbine Mall. Good guys over there, been buying from them since the (late?) 90s when they also had a stall at Dr Flea's Flea Market on Hwy 27 just south of Woodbine.yuldeli wrote:A few months ago I lucked out and found a VG 10 Caly at a local knife shop at a very good price. Assuming that your Caly was in excellent/good condition, you will not be disappointed, and your appreciation for the knife will only grow over time.
Unless there's a manufacturing issue, like the Cat and Chicago, or a supply issue like the Ti ATR, Spyderco only ever drops a model due to lack of sales. The most logical answer I can come up with is that between the less expensive FFG G-10 Delica and the UKPK, there was just too much competition in the 3" G-10 handled market.jag-engr wrote:Huh, I've been away from the forum for a bit and just realized that the Caly3 was disco'd when I read this thread. It actually makes me a little sad. I consider it to be the best general-purpose EDC knife that I have ever handled.
You won't regret purchasing one!
I'm with the Deacon - why did they disco the PE Caly3 in G10, but keep the CF/ZDP version?I wonder if it has something to do with the Caly3.5 coming out. Maybe they figured a half inch difference wasn't enough of a market niche. Or maybe the Caly3.5 feels so much better in the hand that they just assumed everyone would want that instead - at least that's what I'm hoping.
I would add CF Sage to the mix of Caly3 G10/Vg10 completion. IIRC, the latest price at NGK or KC for caly3 was over $100, making it most expensive knife out of this group. So it looks like there were too many similar knives in Spyderco line-up and two of them were dropped. ZDP is much more dress-up knife and with MSRP drop from $250 to $200 hopefully sale went up.The Deacon wrote:The most logical answer I can come up with is that between the less expensive FFG G-10 Delica and the UKPK, there was just too much competition in the 3" G-10 handled market.
