2nd Round 2010 Forum Knife
2nd Round 2010 Forum Knife
The forumites who voted expressed a strong interest in both the FRN UKPK and the G10 Manix as potential forum knives. Earlier this year, before the many Manix2 variants were released, the Manix2 had a very strong showing with 60% of the vote and the FRN UKPK was second. This time the FRN UKPK won with 45% of the vote and the Manix2 garnered second place with 32%.
Since the leading vote getter did not surpass 50%, there will now be a runoff.

Our reason is quite satisfied, in 999 cases out of every 1000 of us, if we can find a few arguments that will do to recite in case our credulity is criticized by someone else. Our faith is faith in someone else's faith, and in the greatest matters this is most the case.

I switched my vote to Manix 2 after I saw the handle for the frn UKPK. I thought it was gonna be that cool bi-directional style like the E4, but I dislike the design that got used. blegh.
My :spyder:'s: Tan M4 Manix!, P'kal, Rock Salt, Pink Endura CE, Orange Moran, USN Endura, Bug, Honeybee, FRN Cricket.

Ditto! Just purchased the Manix 2 CTS-XHP and the pink handled 154 and cheaper is better for the budget now. Also need a quality "smaller" knife for those occasions I travel.SUDS wrote:Since I own a normal manix 2, and their are going to be alot of great knives released this year. Their is a better chance i will buy a cheaper priced Forum knife so I'm picking the UKPK
UKPK for my choice.
I like the Manix 2 but for whatever reason, rarely find any of them my pocket. They are well engineered and in theory I love the design but... Dunno, can't put my finger on it....
G10 UKPK on the other hand shows up on a (very! ;-) regular basis. Haven't tried the frn yet but if this is going to be ffg I'd be very interested. Any color but I guess my preference would be grey.

I pick my G10 UKPK for EDC about 50% of the time. The other 50% is shared between the other knives. The FRN UKPK rarely makes it to my pocket actually. Even though the FRN version is a decent knife at a great price, it's just not as good as my G10 version, especially the action of the blade falls short (but is still decent). I consider the FRN UKPK a great knife for those who can't or don't want to shell out the cash for the G10 version, but still want a good Spyderco slipjoint.kbuzbee wrote:I like the Manix 2 but for whatever reason, rarely find any of them my pocket. I must admit that the Manix2 has been in my pocket for the last 4 days in a row though :D
There may have never been a brown G-10 Manix...but there is a LOT of brown G-10 in this world. There are even different shades of brown G-10 available.dayliu wrote:IMHO, we still need a BROWN G10 Manix 2 ! (I know, there's never been a brown g10 ... but that color would be so fitting on this knife)

My vote will always be for the UKPK ... I'd like to get a Manix one day but it's too expensive a knife to stick in a drawer and until our laws change (or I get a lot more money!) I'll be concentrating on SLIPITs :)
My spydies: Squeak, Tenacious, Terzuola, D'Allara, UKPK CF peel-ply pre-production, UKPK CF smooth pre-production, UKPK G10 orange leaf-blade, UKPK FRN grey drop-point, UKPK FRN maroon leaf-blade, Bug ... all PE blades :)
Right. I meant to say "never a brown g10 from :spyder: " :)unit wrote:There may have never been a brown G-10 Manix...but there is a LOT of brown G-10 in this world. There are even different shades of brown G-10 available.

I voted for UKPK. My whole life I've lived where I can carry pretty much whatever I want (California and Texas) but ever since the first UKPK I always come back TO the UKPK. I think the FRN UKPK is well suited to the forum's multi-national and recession-minded populace right now.
Upgrade it with FFG and an interesting color, get the price under $60ish, and I think it's the obvious choice.

As Horace Greeley didn't say, "go cheap young man, go cheap."
A slipit will be legal where a locking knife would not. I for one will almost never buy a non-locking knife but I will consider a slipit forum knife.
Cost is a concern to most of us.
Oh yeah BTW, my SC101GP2 Manix 2 arived two hours ago. :) :) :)
