Matriarch Pre-order

#1

Post by Donut »

YCS has the Matriarch up for pre-order. I'm pretty amazed by the price on this thing, approximately as expensive as the new FFG VG-10 Enduras.

I'd like to hear about people's experience pre-ordering from YCS. I put in a pre-order on the Matriarch SE back in May, waited for a while into June, and decided to cancel the order for some reason. In the "duration" of my pre-order, YCS kept putting up new availability dates (otherwise I would have gotten one! :) )

Since I've moved onto wanting a Manix 2 :D , I browsed their web site often. Quite recently, I noticed that they have the manix 2 CTS-XHP listed for preorder and claimed that they will get some on Sept 1. I emailed YCS about it and the answer back is: it was a sprint run, we simply forgot to take it off the website -- there goes my dream of getting the CTS-XHP Manix 2 at reasonable price :( :(

But, I do hope those of you who put in preorder on the Matriarch eventually get it! Might be a good idea to call them up to ask about your chance though.

I've never personally pre-ordered from YCS, but I remember somebody saying that Mike places availability dates up on the website as an extremely rough estimate. They're almost never accurate because Spyderco doesn't release exact shipping dates to their distributors.

Also, Mike uses Moteng as his drop-ship supplier so it's more of a "when Moteng gets their shipment, YCS gets their shipment" kind of a deal.

I think everyone is referring to YourCornerStore where they are retailing for $51.52. I have no connection with the site - just trying to help. :)
My spydies: Squeak, Tenacious, Terzuola, D'Allara, UKPK CF peel-ply pre-production, UKPK CF smooth pre-production, UKPK G10 orange leaf-blade, UKPK FRN grey drop-point, UKPK FRN maroon leaf-blade, Bug ... all PE blades :)

I pre-ordered a XHP and Blue Manix from them, both turned out well, but you have no idea what is going on until it ships. I jumped on the pre-order late for a FFG endura and delica and it took me a month after other stores had them in stock to get one.

Donut, when did you pre-order that XHP? It's still on YCS and showing a "-2" as # in stock

Wow, didn't expect the Matriarch to be so cheap. I'm not really into hawkbill blades but at that price I might try one out.

I've never pre-ordered anything from them myself, but I've seen them offer a low price for pre-order, and then when the actual knife comes out, the price was higher. Specifically, I remember this happening with the composite blade Junkyard Dog II. It was $49 when they were "getting them in," and then when they finally came in, they were $65.

And I'm skeptical of the price because I already pre-ordered a Matriarch from somewhere else, and I was quoted ~$70.

I pre-ordered the XHP on 02/05/10, it shipped 03/31/10.

I was on pre-order for almost two months before it came out. If you jumped on the pre-order wagon later, I'm sure you would wait longer.

I've been on the pre-order list for the superleaf and breedan rescue for over a month now, basically as soon as I saw them go up.

I am guessing the later price increase wouldn't affect a preorder -- because they charge your credit card at the moment you put in that preorder.

Ahh. Then it makes sense you have gotten it :)

Wait longer or get your preorder canceled - that's what happened with my Meerkat order with YCS :(

Aww man, why'd they have to pick to the brown? That's like the worst color in my opinion.

It grows on you. When I first saw the Matriarch sprint, I didnt care too much about the brown. Now it's one of my fav FRN colors!
