Sharpening Sub-Forum?

#1

Post by Marion David Poff »

Howdy,

I am wondering if we have ever considered a Sharpening Sub Forum?

Spyderco has a bunch of really great sharpening products, and the posts about them pretty easily get lost in the big General Forum.

I am learning how to sharpen 'scandi' type knives, and have been considering getting a couple of benchstones...

Best,
Marion

I am all for it.

I consider myself as much of a sharpening nut as I am a knife nut.
Thanks,

Considering how many times a month a sharpening thread pops up, I think it'd be a great idea!

Nothing more worthless than a dull knife. :)
I could think of myself as a poor sharpener, so i use gaugets to help me, without them I am lost.
So yes i need help.

I'd be up for that too. I can see a lot of useful information being consolidated.

Great idea
I'd rather be tried by 12, than carried by 6.

They already have some great "sharpening" sub-forums over at "bladeforums.com". However I would be 100% for a Sharpening Sub-Forum strictly dealing with Spyderco's great sharpening products.

For instance I learn new tricks using Spyderco's 701 Profiles almost everytime I use them. Also I would love to chat more about Spyderco's older/discontinued sharpening tools like their Galley V sharpener which I always loved.

Yes this should be at least worth some consideration. Because I believe that Spyderco will constantly be having new sharpening products coming down their pipeline. You all have a YES Vote from this Spyder-head

Love the idea - not sure how much traffic it would generate. Of course, as a subforum I don't imagine it would hurt anything to put one up as Kristi's time permits :D

I just got a Sharpmaker last week for my Birthday. I'd love to see a sharpening forum!

Well, it is good to see that the idea has some traction.

How do we start?

A collection of knowledge about sharpening would be nothing short of great. I have never used Spyderco sharpening tools but given their dedication to the quality of their knives I'm confident their attention to perfection would be just as dedicated in their sharpening products.
