Stretch 3/Caly 3 DP

#1

Post by Scottie3000 »

The UKPK comes in both leaf and drop point blades. I prefer the drop point and since the Caly 3 is nearly identical to the UKPK except for having a locking mechanism, I would love to see the Caly 3 with a drop point blade. I was thinking maybe it would be called "Stretch 3" since its like a stretch and it has a 3 inch blade.

Thoughts?

Did a quick "photo chop" mockup, and must admit I kind of like it. What do you think?

I think it would be perfect if there were a little more material in front of the hole. It would make a "S" shape and have a little hump near the point like a stretch.

I think its ugly, but what is the advantage of a drop point on this knife? More maneuverability when slicing apples?

So's the Stretch, for that matter, but it works fine. For looks, I'd prefer the "Dyad PE" shape Gary Graley gave a Stretch. As for advantages, the narrower blade does provide more maneuverability in situations where that's an asset. Definitely better for carving pumpkins. :D Perhaps more importantly, at least for me, is that I can't see any downside to it, aside perhaps from limiting its potential usefulness as a cake server.

So to turn that around, what advantage do you feel a broad spear point blade has?
