Depends what you call real. As far as I know spyderco made three guntings. The live blade black handle the drone red handle and the crimpt blue handle. The actually did originally come with that skunk works sheath but this looks like someone may have made a few modifications or someone stole some prototype or something. This knife was never officially released by spyderco. But it doesn't mean bram didn't make this seeing as he owns the gunting design. I don't think its his though just a modded spydie if that.

I'd agree. I might be a custom Gunting, I know there was a custom maker somewhere in Europe who did some legitimate ones and I vaguely recall seeing a rescue version before. But the seller has not put anything in the listing that would establish its authenticity. Yet another case where "Ask the seller a question" is your friend.

Spoonrobot, thanks for diging up that thread. They are a very well done custom. Even the orange sheath is done well. The tip of the eBay one does look used. On mine there is a diamond engraved number on the spine of the blade. I don't see it mentioned in the listing description.

It would appear to be a legit aftermarket variation/modification/custom.Jurgen Dortmueller and Stefan Steigerwald , Both famous German Custom knife makers did some RESCUE versions...
