Can someone give me a list of good stocking dealers
Perhaps this could come from the Spyderco Club Members?
Thanks in advance..............Rod

Are you looking for someone within what most would consider reasonable driving distance, or just a good dealer to order from? If the later, I'd agree with bh49's list, and add Cutlery Shoppe and KnifeWorks to it. New Graham also has a dynamite brick and mortar store, although it would be a bit of a hike for you.

Spyderco does have a "dealer locator" page, but it's not terribly useful.

Paul makes a good point... are you looking for a good walk-in store, a good Internet store, or both?

Adding to what has been recommended, I suggest...

Grand Prairie Knives

http://www.gpknives.com/

Country Knives

http://www.countryknives.com/

Both are, in fact, walk-in and Internet stores, and both are very reliable.

Cutleryshoppe is my usual recommendation. I've also used yourcornerstore for the low prices. I don't like newgraham/grand prarie knives as much because you might get a CC'd knife.

the easy way to avoid that is to simply tell them you don't want a CC# knife. I just went to New Graham two weeks ago on my way to North Carolina. LOTS of knives.

This is true but there are other places with better prices so I just don't normally order from them. They are great dealers no doubt and also are the kind of dealer you can ask to check your knife for centered blade/etc if you want, but I think that there are better choices out there.

Like Deacon mentioned CC is collector's club. Check his website for a good explanation. GrandPrairie for sure (and I think NewGraham as well) own several collectors numbers to make sure they get a few of each knife. Actually I thought that this was supposed to be addressed with the recent revisions of the collector's club program so this might not be an issue anymore.

Then again, some folks would be happy to receive a numbered knife. The number makes it easier to prove ownership, some think it makes the knife "special", and with more and more fakes cropping up, it may eventually increase the knife's value on the secondary market as it decreases the chances the knife is counterfeit.

I have had good luck working with KnifeWorks. Easy to deal with and quick.

I get most of my Spydercos from Cutlery Shoppe because you deal directly with the owner, Jeff, and his prices can't be beat.
KnifeWorks is also good but more expensive.
On eBay, Whitemountain and PoorFish have terrific deals and good customer service.

It doesn't bother me that there's a Collector's Club number on the knives... I simply want the particular Spyderco model that I'm ordering, especially if the model is no longer available.

And, as Paul noted, I consider it pretty cool that there is a number on the blade... yes, it makes the knife even more special to me. Typically, the :spyder: s with the Collector's Club number represent the earliest production run of the knife, and I've found that, in some cases, the first ones out usually have the better built than later production runs of that same model. True, later models may have improvements, but there's something special about the first version off the assembly line.

+1 to Tom @ spydercovt.com
I just made my first purchase from him-a PPT. got it today. Good prices, fast shipping, and he was willing to trade emails with me for like a month before the knife was available keeping me updated. He might be my new go-to guy.

And me as well. In fact, they're the only place I've bought a Spyderco knife from other than factory direct for my Swicks and my Bushcraft 2nd.

But are they actually a "stocking dealer". From what I've heard they're just a drop ship front for Moteng.

I believe you are correct, Paul. Mike is located in New Hampshire and he drop ships his knives from California. It's about as extreme as you can get in terms of distance between the dealer and his product!
