My wife was stabed

#1

Post by J Smith »

Well it finally happened, she stabbed herself. She was trying to pry apart fozen hamburger patties with a kitchen knife. It went in the inside of her palm and out the side of her hand, barley missed the artery. You could see it pulseing every time her heart beat.If she will let me I will take a pic of it and post it.Looks bad,I would hate to see what a SE Spydie would have done. The cut on the inside is about 2 1/2 in and the one on the outside is about 3 1/2 in.The blade on the knife she was useing was about 3/4 in wide.

Jeff, Hope she heals quickly. I have never cut myself doing that - but came close once and now use the closest thing to a butter knife in terms of edge to separate frozen hamburgers.

Jeff ~ Ouch!, I hope your Wife's hand heals quickly and there's no tendon damage. Maybe she'll have more respect for the old humble kitchen knife in the future as I have found.

Jeff

I hope your wife has a complete and speedy recovery!!!

You're probably right - a bite might have been much worse. But that's likely little consolation to her now.

(no need for pictures however )

Jeff, Echo on the concerns about tendon damage, and hope your wife recovers compleatly. Personally, I feel pics might be a little over the top.
Good luck to you both,

Respectfully, I dis-agree. A picture or 2 would make a perfect object lesson on knife safety. Even if you handle a knife safely,,,,,,,,$#it happens!!!

You can't be too careful!!!

Hope you wife enjoys a speedy recovery.

One lesson that can be drawn from this incedent is
that there is no such thing as a harmless knife. Kitchen
tools often are overlooked for the danger they pose.
From a table dull butter knife to the sharpest knife in
in the rack all must be respected.

Jeff,
Really sorry to hear about that... hope your wife heals fully and quickly.
Forget the pictures... it would only put you in the same class with the news people... who have no sense about that that sort of thing.
This is not entertainment... I really feel for her.

It's a good thing she didn't lose a finger...Those seemingly harmless kitchen knives CAN be dangerous! Maybe it's time to buy your wife a pair of Kevlar gloves!..

Jeff,
OUCH! I hope she recovers quickly. That had to be excruciatingly painful.

Yeeeeeowwwwww!!!!

She's lucky that the artery wasn't cut, those can be extremely nasty to repair. Any fine motor/nerve damage? Something like that would worry me, too many delicate things hiding in a palm.

Keepin' it real...real sharp, that is.

Jeff, you surely know how to scare someone! In the first minute, I thought she was attacked! It's bad she hurt herself in the kitchen, but the good part is that it was just a domestic accident. I hope she'll recover soon. Surely she'll be more cautious with knives next time
