Although the clear frn does little for me, I'd love to see some translucent blues or greens either in g10/g11 or frn. As long as the quality is still there, why not go for some look-cool factor.

I thought I'd read aroud here before that clear is the uncolored (natural) state of FRN. I can't find it though, and it was years ago. But it has stuck in my mind for a ling time that frn is dyed during it's forming, and if no dye is injected it's clear.

But, as I said, I can't find that post, so I could be making that up. Hah!

That's probably right, but where is the fiberglass reinforcement? I would have thought you'd see the glass fibers, and that they'd make it no longer clear? Dunno, just speculating.

I liked the idea of a translucent Manix from the very beginning. I think clear FRN is very suitable to highlight it's interesting anatomy and especially the lock.

BTW: I forgot to chime in.

I love the translucent look. I see what some are saying about "cheap looking"; but I see the look as being so non-threatening. I mean, the Manix looks 1/3 as agressive clear than it does solid. I'm all for clear and color translucents.

I'd like to see some on knives like the poliwog, cricket, ladybug, frn ukpk, and delica. :D

I primary interest in the clear FRN it provides a rare opportunity to observe how a knife works. For me, the knife thing is something I like to share with people. A clear knife--or even better, a series of clear knives each with different lock mechanisms, makes a great instructional tool. I say bring 'em on, I'm all over it.

If some kid got to this big a knife thinking it was a toy they could really hurt themselves. The handle looks toyish but the blade is still very dangerous. I would hate it if a kid was seriously hurt then a law suit be thrown at Spyderco because the knife looked like a toy. We all know the current knife laws suck and I don't want them to get any worse.

I had the opportunity to handle this knife at the Oregon knife show. It looks less "plasticy" and toy-like in person than in those photo's. That said, it still seemed like kind of a novelty. I'm sure lots of other folks will like it.

I've been wanting to post this for a while but had trouble registering.

Down here in Victoria, where the knife laws are the tightest in the world even by UK standards a knife which looks like a toy would be amazing.

Also, clear FRN or another clear plastic can easily be just as strong.

I'm sure most of you probably don't know much about the BMX world, but we have recently had a storm in the market of clear plastic pedals. I've been using a set of clear white pedals for about 6 months now and they are as tough as my aluminum ones.

Someone tell me that that doesn't prove a clear plastic would be strong enough, those things are made for heavy bodies landing huge jumps onto them.

I also love this idea. A similarly bladed cheap knife but all made with different locking mechanisms so you can see how they work. That would be awesome. Sell them as a set?

Only wish you guys could put an axis lock in there too.

Plain clear looks cheap to me, even if it is still full FRN strength. I like the idea of clear colored FRN better. But on a Manix, that sucker needs black FRN. It just suits it's style so much better.

I'm actually interested in buying at least one with clear FRN, but only for the different factor that I love about Spyderco. Heck, while they're at it, why not put some colored programmable LEDs in there too? :rolleyes:

The thing that I don't like about the clear Manix 2 is the pinned construction. Maybe if they did run this, they would change it to screws. I really don't see this as looking like a cheap toy. Some people think any colour frn looks cheap even though it's extremely strong. The clear is just another colour of frn, or lack of :D

It is only a production prototype though, seeing as most of there knives seem to be a screw, I would assume they would change them before production. Colored LED's I'd be up for, that would be awesome. I mean, how often do you need to go to a disco but your knife just doesn't fit in?
